I stayed at this hotel for one week. It was my first time in Bangkok and I did extensive research before picking this place. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and will use this hotel again when I come back to Bangkok.
Location. This is perhaps the best feature. It's in a soi off of Ratchadamri road so the noise level is lower. But one still benefits from being close to a main thoroughfare, especially since the staircase to the Ratchadamri BTS station is right at the exit of the soi. Within walking distance of the hotel is Central World, a major shopping mall complex. Aside from mall shopping, there are several supermarkets and a very decent collection of restaurants. All this is indoors and air-conditioned, which one can escape to when the heat and pollution of the Bangkok outdoors get to be too overwhelming. Walking on Ratchadamri in the opposite direction, one gets to Lumpini park where there is a collection of street food vendors. This provides an experience that's completely opposite to the one afforded by Central World. Two contrasting facets of Thailand. Finally, using the BTS one can easily get to many important places in Bangkok. In particular, for 25 BHT, one can go to Sathorn Pier, the main Express Boat landing right next to Sapan Taksin. From this pier, Express Boats (15 BHT per trip) go to many major sights along the river. One BTS station in the opposite direction takes one to Siam Plaza, another major shopping and restaurant venue.
Room. Its quality and layout are excellent. I booked a studio suite, which is the cheapest option. Even then, it's very spacious and actually has many features that in my opinion makes it preferable to the more expensive options. First, it's more like a studio than a room as it has a functional kitchen and an excellent front-loading Siemens washer / dryer. I got to Bangkok after two weeks of travel and I did several washes in the Siemens. Very nice feature. I did not do any cooking but I did use plates, knives, and forks to eat fruits. Thailand is justly famous for its fruits and I immensely enjoyed eating all kinds, which could be conveniently bought from the nearby supermarkets if one did not feel like bargaining with street vendors. The rest of the room is luxurious and extremely well laid out, especially the spacious bathroom / walk-in closet combination. Another feature that is specific to these studios is that some of them face out toward the Bangkok Country Club. I sent an email before arriving to request this feature and was glad I did. The more expensive rooms all face inside or toward neighboring high-rises. I am a member of Small Luxury Hotels and sometimes they give upgrades; I am glad they did not offer one this time.
Facilities. The one facility that I tremendously enjoyed was the swimming pool. It's 26 meters long and 1.3 meter deep. The shape is a simple rectangle. This means that it's actually useful for lap swimming. Moreover, being surrounded by neighboring high-rises, it gets quickly into the shade by late afternoon. This gives the water time to cool down so when I swam at 7 PM, the temperature was quite comfortable. Many people complain about this shade but to me, it's a welcome feature. Attached to the pool is a luxurious shower room that's well equipped with towels and other amenities. There is a pool bar. The pool attendants are friendly and helpful. There is also a gym but I did not use it.
Food. The room came with breakfast. It's high quality. The options are many and everything I ate was very good. Aside from the buffet, one can order several items from the kitchen. One can choose to eat inside or outside on the terrace. Service was attentive. Several mornings when I had to leave early, they provided excellent breakfast boxes. There are also two restaurants, one western and one Thai but I did not eat there.
Service. Overall it is excellent. Front desk personnel, concierge, doormen, pool attendants are all extremely helpful and friendly. There is one very very minor complaint: Housekeeping tends to be uneven. It's not that the room is dirty, actually it is cleaned quite well. But on one occasion, some towels were not replenished. Then on two nights, turn-down service was not provided. When turn-downs were actually done, they showed variation. It seemed like different housekeepers did the same service differently. These really are minor points and this variation in service in no way detracted from my excellent experience at this hotel. I just want to point this out to help management can improve so that the establishment can fit its luxury image.
I unreservedly recommend this hotel.
