Nestled in between a number of 5-star luxury brand names hotels in the downtown district of Bangkok, conveniently located right next to the BTS station, Hansar Hotel is a luxury boutique hotel that stands out from the rest: With long dark wooden panels dominating the hotel lobby, emitting a simple bucolic yet modern charm Hansar boasts as a uniquely fresh modern hotel equipped with up-to-date facilities, geared more towards business patrons than a genuine vacationer looking for a true getaway. The room itself is unique with a glass panel installed overlooking a set of plants in the hallway, giving the room an overall airy feel. The room is also very comfortable with plush carpets and a comfortable bed. It also comes equipped with free wifi and free minibar restocked everyday with a bag of chips, nuts, couple of soft drinks and beers. There are also two televisions in two sections of the room, one in the bedroom and one in the sitting area. The bathroom was also extremely spacious with a tub occupying the same space as the waterfall shower. Attention to detail to the room is superb as the room offer no short of office supplies and amenities in the bathroom. The bedroom section can be closed off by a sliding mirror panel that gives the room a more spacious feel. It is perfect for a business guest looking for a comfortable stay in a hotel.
The service is not short of excellence. When my friend and I inquired about several massage and restaurant places, the concierge was quick to help, inquire and research about requested places and other possibilities. Even when the place was packed, there would be other staff member willing to help. On top of which, they helped placed calls to several places to check and make reservations. They were resourceful, helpful and friendly. On the other hand, I wouldn't say the same for the bar service at night. When my friend and I stepped into the lobby lounge at night, half an hour before closing, the waitress was rude, unwelcoming, not treating us as you should treat a hotel guest. After begrudgingly taking our drink orders, she proceeded to ignore our request for a glass of warm water even though she did hear us. On top of the service being slow, the lounge area was surprisingly lifeless, dull as it lacks guests and ambiance. We further searched for other bars in the hotel and was quick to find out the rooftop bar was sadly, still not opened. The pool was disappointingly small despite its imitation of an infinity like pool. Space is limited in the pool area as there is only couple of lounge chairs. I still don't know why they didn't place the pool at the rooftop as there would be more room for lounging and sun bathing. The gym equipment is the state of the art. Breakfasts starts at around 6am to 10:30 am and can only say it is mediocre and lack selection. Yes they do serve western and eastern style breakfast. Again, the service here was impeccable as they are attentive, prompt and friendly with the orders. Furthermore, the massage was super expensive despite them trying to offer a buy get one free deal that ONLY lasts till 4pm. A simple two-hour massage was priced at around $3,800 baht, which is around $128 USD, $1,000 HKD, etc. That is a ridiculous price for a massage you can get at a much cheaper price outside the hotel. This is not recommended.
Overall, the facilities in the hotel are disappointing, lackluster, boring and dull. The service is exceptional. The room was comfortable enough. If you're looking for a more fully service hotel equipped with a range of bars, restaurants, spa facilities, and a nice pool, or you are a honey-mooner looking for a romantic spot in Bangkok, I would not recommend this place. Maybe it is ideal for a business passerby looking for a comfortable stay at the hotel. It's a bang for its bucks at a luxurious boutique hotel price, but not for a luxurious hotel that is supposed to have full serviced amenities.
