“all international with excellent taste”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2013

Lobster was great, Rostbeef marvelous, lamb amazing, dessert for every taste.
The complement should take the boat of hotel for a short visit to Taksin station and return to dinner. Great choice.

“Superb buffet”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 22, 2013

The variety, quality and freshness of the food was outstanding. An excellent riverside experience. The service was a little ad hoc, however the usual Thai friendliness shone through.

“Luxury Does Not Justify The Price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 22, 2013

We went to the evening barbecue at the Verandah knowing ahead of time that it was quite pricey. However, it was a special occasion for us, and many people had recommended the restaurant. We were prepared to pay for a special experience. While we had an enjoyable dinner, it still seemed grossly overpriced.

The food at the buffet was varied and quite good. My wife particularly enjoyed the grilled scampi, and I found the roast beef delicious. We ate enough from the salad bar and main courses on offer that we were too full for dessert. As good as the food was, it was - as is often the case with buffets - fairly standard. That is to say, there was nothing offered that made us think "Wow". "Barbecue" also is a bit of a misnomer - several items were roasted, but other than the scampi, very little appeared to have actually been cooked on an open grill.

The ambience was nice. The Verandah, after all, is in a luxury hotel overlooking the river. The service was very good, too. On the other hand, there are a great many places in Bangkok that have nice surroundings and which overlook the river, and most places we ate at in Bangkok had service that was equally attentive and friendly. The Verandah may be worth a premium over what other restaurants charge, but not the THB 2700 person that the barbecue costs. This cost does not include drinks (a little over priced), the 10% service charge added by most up scale Bangkok restaurants, VAT or any tip added to the service charge.

It may be that the menu and charges for meals prior to the 7pm start for the barbecue are a little better value. I cannot really comment.

“Disappointed in the Food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2013

Recommended by two fellow travelers, this was supposed to be our "best" meal of the trip. And, while the view and surroundings did impress, the food and service were only so-so. My prawns and my son's soup were luke warm on arrival, and weren't tastier than local versions at local prices. For the number of staff in the resto, I would have expected impeccable service, but found myself having to wait relatively long periods to flag down somebody to ask for water, etc. I wanted to love this place, but have to say it didn't live up to its reputation. Maybe we just caught it on an off day.

“Nice Deck”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2013

Be prepared to order with at least three staff members ... communication not easy. Ordinary food. No big deal.
