“Great location in Bangkok”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2013

We stayed at the New Siam Riverside several times during our last trip en route to and from other destinations. The location is great, near Rambutri Street which has a much nicer atmosphere than Khao San Road (also nearby), and has lots of restaurants and street food. The hotel is also near the pier where you can catch the boat to the Grand Palace, Wat Pho, or Chinatown. We had a standard room, which was just fine. Once we were upgraded to a superior room which was pretty much the same but bigger. The rooms are clean and comfortable with A/C, TV and a safe. You do need to make a request in order to get your room cleaned daily. There is a good buffet breakfast and a pool which is fairly small and has some loungers and several chairs. There is a good travel agent desk in the lobby where they helped us make some travel arrangements, and they can also book airport shuttles for you for 150 THB per person. All in all, it is a great place to stay in Bangkok.

It is safe, clean, it has a nice pool and adequate garden -nice to sit with your cold beer at sunset and watch dusk fall over the Chao Praya river. In fact, the pool and the garden are about the best bit about this guest-house, as the rooms are about the same like in some cheaper guest-houses. Location of the guest-house is good for being near the busy Banglampoo back-packers quarter, but it is still far enough from the all-night music bars of Kao San Rd to guarantee good nights sleep. There are 2 excellent Thai restaurants serving very good traditional Thai food just across the road from the main entrance: "Hemlock" and "A Good Story" - both extremely pleasant and popular with young trendy Thai crowds.

Room Tip: Virw over the river is very nice

I have stayed here several times over the years and the service is always excellent.
Buffet breakfast is always great, usually lasts me most of the day. Some parts of the room I stayed in were starting to look a tiny bit shabby...nothing serious just like they would need some attention soon, laminate floor starting to lift slightly, ceiling in the shower a little stained. the odd bulb out... no longer has that new shinny feel... still a great place to stay, and the pool is really nice at the end of the day!
They should get the broadband Wifi sorted though! its an extra few Bahts per day and only allows 1 device to be logged in at a time... so logging in and out is a pain if you use more than 1 device!.

Also, the birds WILL eat your breakfast if you leave it unattended!

Room Tip: Rooms away from the roadside are quieter.

A fantastic hotel situated, as its name suggests, right on the river side. From its outdoor terrace (also where the breakfast buffet is served) you can watch the extraordinary range of river traffic passing just a few feet away. Ideally placed for catching river transport (the Phra Athit stop is a few yards away).
We stayed at this hotel three times during our five weeks in Thailand and on each occasion were delighted with our room and particularly with the extraordinarily friendly and helpful staff. The room we chose was at the bottom of the price range, but was air conditioned, en suite, clean, comfortable and well serviced. We enjoyed use of the swimming pool and the excellent range of dishes available in the breakfast buffet. On returning to the hotel for the third time, after travelling around Thailand, we received a great welcome from the staff who greeted us like old friends. It's easy to book the hotel by telephone as staff on the reception desk all speak good English. The hotel is an absolute gem, beautifully situated and reasonably priced. I loved staying there.

The hotel is really nice and clean. The staff is helpful and nice.
Hote'sl location is perfect, close to Khao San Road, but away from its noise.
Chao Praya Express boat stops just in front of the hotel, easy way to move in Bangkok and to reach the metro.
Breakfast is served on the river side, it is buffet and is delicious.

WiFi connection is an extra but they provide cable to connect to internet in the room for free (if you have your own PC).

Swimming-pool is nice especially after a hot day!!

Coffee and tea are available in the room, welcome water and there is as well a fridge.

The rooms are big and nice, the price is good por the location by the riverside. The breakfast is good and with some variety, but the pool is so small for the number or guests that it is useless. There are only 8 sunbeds, and usually they are occupied by families with children that this hotel has a lot, specially french speaking.

Take care if you buy extra service in the hotel, taxis are quite more expensive than they should be, and I guess the same happens with excursions.

Although the place is quite nice, the useless pool is a big problem for us, and the overprice for extra service is quite absurd.

I don´t know if we will be back here again as we like using the pool.

Room Tip: Rooms by the street are quite noisy, but the others are quite boring, unless you pick one of the mor...

Booking from their hotel site was a tad bit complicated, but went well. Check in was efficient and our luggage was carried up to our room. Lobby a bit messy, but handy to know there are pc with internett for a fee and during daytime a travel agency. The buffet breakfast is very good and the riverside restaurant where you are served is brilliantly placed. No free wifi.

Booked riverview deluxe room with balcony.... you only live once and all that. Had hopes for sitting on the balcony watching the canal float by. We got a room on 2nd floor and found the riverview and the balcony a waste. During breakfast and in the evening the restaurant outside our window is packed with people and since voyeurism isn't our thing we had the curtains drawn shut whenever we were in the room.

The room is nothing fancy but clean and spacious. The information in the room was not the "Welcome to... how to make your stay comfortable...", but rather instead the laminated 15! rules of do not and the also laminated list of 35! inventory items with their price, in case you broke anything.

Room Tip: If you're to get a riverview room and like some privacy, you should opt for a room as high up as...
