I stayed for two weeks in an executive Appartment which included kitchen, washing machine, fridge freezer and view over the pool. It was big, quiet, clean and with the kitchen could make my own breakfast of coffee and cornflakes in the morning. I
had only one problem, on arrival, the first room smelled badly of smoke, even though I requested a non smoking room. I complained and was later offered the same room again, having been sprayed with air freshener! Again I said that I would not take and they offered me a room on a higher floor which had only faint smell that disappeared after two days. It seems that they do not keep any of these larger rooms as completely non smoking, which is a shame. Many of the other guests are Japanese or Chinese and perhaps they are usually smokers!
Anyway in the end the problem was small. Although some distance from the central shopping area, it is easily accessible by sky train, only 5 minutes walk away. Also there is a small Resto nearby and an air-conditioned cafe near the sky train.
Homeland is not really a hotel, I was not impressed with their breakfast that I took on one day. The quality of the room is the big difference. The swimming pool and gym is ok, though not brilliant. A bar for a cold beer by the pool would be nice.
However if you think of it as an appartment, it's great. I booked on Agoda and got a good discounted rate, almost 50% off. So really good value, particularly compared to Europe.
Reception staff are helpful, and try, however English is not fluent for them. On one day there was an Englishman working on reception, it made everything easy!! But the others tried their best also.
Went out with friends to a brilliant sea food Resto, small and a long taxi journey. Mainly Thais eating, but in all the places I have been it's the best sea food I have ever had. All for less than 2000 baht for three of us really pigging out on top quality crab, shelfish and fish. I took a card, but it's all in thai; the place is called Apichart seafood, the phone is 023770808 or 023770816. Phone and ask how to get there, warning it's a long taxi ride but worth it for the food. Simple setting so don't expect the Sheraton!
Hard to choose between 5 and 4 stars. I will choose 4 because of the problem at the start and small weakness, but really should be 4.5!!
I would have give 5 stars, but I have dropped a star due to the smoke smelling room first offered.
Take a pool view as it's quiet and if non smoker, don't accept a very heavy smokey smell. As...
