I was on a getaway in bangkok for 4days with my sister. My sis made dinner reservations at Antonio's and when we arrived, we were promptly showed to our table. I was pleasantly surprised at how the tabletop was full of little 'happy birthday' confetti! While my sis & I were gushing over the confetti, Antonio appeared at our table within minute, introduced himself and said some birthday wishes and assured that his waiters will take care of us.
Within seconds later, Antonio reappeared with 2 glasses of prosecco and toasted to us, which was a really nice gesture.
We were well attended to by the waiters, who were attentive without being invasive.
- White Asparagus Wrapped with Parma Ham in cheese sauce
- Scallop with some spinach puree
- Home-made Ravioli with Porcini Mushrooms & truffle Sauce
- Squid Ink Pasta
Pardon the lack of description/vocabulary but everything was pretty fabulous. Personally i loved the 2 i ordered - the asparagus with parma & the squid ink pasta. We were happily stuffed after all that food!
But a meal's not complete without dessert! We've ordered a dessert, and my sis mentioned that there was going to be a complimentary tiramisu cake for my birthday. Sure enough, the lights at our table were dimmed suddenly, and Antonio and his crew appeared with the cake, singing happy birthday. I mean it's not unusual for restaurants to do that but can't say the same for every restaurant to have their owners do that, right? It was a nice touch. Antonio later came by again and asked if he could offer anything else, we were stuffed but he insisted on letting us have a taste of his homemade limoncello, which was really good!
Later, towards the end of the night, I overheard snippets of Antonio's conversation with one of his waiter. "Ladies", "taxi". Within seconds a waiter came by to asked if we needed transport back and if he could get us a cab. Antonio's really awesome and attentive huh, does he get anything wrong at all??
Thoroughly enjoyed the dining experience - the ambience, the food, the personalized service, the little touches. I highly recommend Antonio's to everyone. I'm sure i'd be back when i'm in bangkok! Thanks for making my birthday perfect!
