“Quiet, Comfortable Accommodation in Hectic Bangkok”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2014

I had the pleasure of staying in the “Lotus” apartment for several days in early March 2014. The apartment was spotlessly clean, well equipped, very quiet and very comfortable. Although there is a laundry service in the building, I found it very convenient to use the washer in the apartment for small amounts of laundry. Clothes dried very quickly when hung in the bathroom. The best thing about the apartment is the wonderful view over the river – especially from the vantage point of the free-standing bathtub! Another bonus for me was the location across the street of a very nice grocery store and wine shop. In sum, I would highly recommend this apartment – it is conveniently located, very safe, quiet and comfortable.

My husband and I plus a friend stayed in the poinsettia apartment. It was fantastic and so glad we chose to stay there. Would highly recommend these apartments and would certainly return in the future. Jonathan, Tiger and Diamond were all extremely helpful and delightful.

We stayed in the Baan Sathron Chaophraya condominium in the 'Jasmine' room for several days in March 2014. I am very happy to report that the experience was top notch. From my first email enquiries to booking completion the property managers were very helpful, timely and well organised.

The room is in very good condition and the views are excellent. The information provided both by email and left in the apartment is accurate and very useful and makes staying in Bangkok very enjoyable. In particular the advice on river buses and where to eat (good authentic street food just down the street) was appreciated.

One bit of clarification, in building laundry service is found on the 5th floor, this is accessed by taking the elevator down to the 6th and walking down the stairs to the right of the 'library'. Prices are cheap and service is fast.

Of special note the advice to use Peter's taxi service for pickup from the airport to the apartment was perfect. While much more costly than taking the skytrain, Peter's service was great (only 900 baht...for an hour to hour and a half trip, depnds on traffic) and the great value of the Riverside's rooms should let you splurge a bit on a cab fare!

Though the pool was closed while we were there (the staff informed us well in advance of our trip and even offered to refund or re-arrange our booking) the pool area and pool itself is great.

TV, wireless internet, air condition and appliances were all in good working order and the bed was nice and comfortable.

My wife and I will stay with The Riveside Bangkok again.

P.S. don't be afraid to get out and walk around Bangkok, especially at night, there are loads of interesting markets, food stalls, resaturants and sites that are off the beaten path!

P.P.S Also just walk across the bridge to access the boat bus stop at Central Pier...it is much faster than waiting for the free courtesy ferry

We stayed in october 2013 in one of the apartments in this new and well maintained high rise building. The location is not bad, a short boat-trip to Saphan Taksin away, but having said that I must admit I was disappointed when I heard that the ferry boat was out for repairs. For us it meant we had to walk to the pier and wait for the communal ferry to bring us to the other side. It's a 10 minute walk and each time we had to wait for about 15 minutes to get across. On average we lost about one hour a day going to and from Saphan Taksin. I understand a boat needs to be repaired and maintained. Pity it was during our stay. Security is very good, and each time a dapper security guard welcomed us with a Prussian heel-clack. Apartment is well laid out, quite comfortable with good WIFI and TV and stereo. AC was so-so, made noise, and we didn't seem to get the apartment really cool. Bed was comfortable, and kitchen very decent, though we really missed an electric kettle. Had to boil water for tea in a pan. Bathroom was very nice with a view to die for. Opposite the building there is a supermarket with a few restaurants, but they are not really the places you want to eat when in Bangkok. So, once again, you really have to get across to find one of those great restaurants in Bangkok. Swimming pool was great, big and clean, and we had it almost to ourselves. Transportation to the airport was great. Really reliable guy. We highly recommend Peter or one of his guys to take you to i.g. Ayutthaya. We joined a group tour and had a horrible day. I'll be honest: price/quality is very good, and when the house-ferry is up and running I'm sure most people will like it. I guess I'm more a hotel guy (miss my breakfast) and want to be in a good hotel smack in the middle of town, next to the sky train and on the right side of the river. Having said that, I had a very enjoyable stay, sipping a gin-tonic and watching the evening fall on the mighty Chao Praya river.

This year we stayed in the studio apartment Magnolia. We seemed to have more space than we had in the one bedroom apartment we stayed in last year! The bed in Magnolia is huge and SO comfortable that we slept like the proverbial logs. The apartment is tastefully decorated and has a good kitchen and an excellent washing machine. As always, Diamond and her team were always available to answer any questions if necessary. The doorman, who was on duty for most of the 10 days that we were there, was even more 'smiley' than he was last year. We've nick-named him Corporal Happy! At the end of a hard day's sightseeing, it was a pleasure to be on the receiving end of his happy greeting - - - Thailand really is the Land of Smiles.
In 2013 we were at theriversidebangkok when the new little shopping mall Sena Fest opened and we were sure that it would become a useful addition to the area. It has lived-up to that promise with an excellent supermarket for the daily essentials, a small pharmacy AND a branch of Boots.
It was great to find that Thong Far restaurant is still doing a brisk and tasty trade and for those in need of a massage, a new place has recently opened directly next door to the existing one. It has to be said that the new massage place is much better than the old one (which was perfectly OK) This 'new kid on the block' has been opened by 3 ladies who are all charming. One of them, Kob, does have a smattering of English, so a slight amount of conversation is possible. Kob's massage place is the first that you come to, just 2 minutes' walk from the apartments.
One of our most enjoyable 'experiences' was a morning spent at Sompong Thai Cooking School. It was informative, entertaining and the end products were VERY tasty!
We have just returned from our 4 week holiday in Asia, and the accommodation at theriversidebangkok was, by far, the best in terms of comfort and value for money. We love Bangkok and plan to return as often as possible.

We were happy at how clean the apartment Hibiscus was and I tell you, we are picky. More than the apartment size or the decor style we look at the way it is mantained, this one was worth. We learned lately when some friends came stay in another apartment namely Bouganville, that this is standard for this organization, they care. We paid a little extra to get a corner room with the famous view to the river, it was worth. More that 50% of the walls area are actually windows floor to ceiling, including the bathroom. The place is quite new and very well decorated, the owners are right when they claim they offer 'elegant' apartment, it is true. We liked the wooden built in decoration and the furniture. The bed is super comfortable. We think that the builidng is one pf the most beautiful we encountered in Bangkok and we come here for work frequently. It is called Baan Sathorn Chaopraya and it is very well maintained, expecially the pool and gyn areas. Security is clearly working well, we had some friends visiting and security called us with internal phone. We had to pick up our friends because strangers without an electronic key are not allowed in. We loved it. The rates were affordable and fair, we had a good discount over the published rates because we stayed over two weeks but I guess this is standard policy. We are thinking of coming here again for our next business trip.

Room Tip: Ask for a corner apartment, it is stunning.

My wife and I stayed at the 16th floor Hibiscus one bedroom apartment for three nights in January, 2014. We enjoyed our stay last year at The Riverside Bangkok Apartments and decided to return again this year. The best aspects of our stay was the spacious modern apartment in a secure high-rise building, the quiet setting across the Chao Phraya River from the Saphan Taksin BTS skytrain station, and the scenic view of the river. A convenient ferry shuttles passengers across the river every 30 minutes.

The only downside for us was the lack of high quality restaurants in the neighborhood. There is an Italian restaurant and several Asian restaurants within walking distance but the quality of the food was below that on the opposite side of the river. To reach a good MaxValue market and 24-hr Tom N Toms Coffee, turn right at the main road and walk five minutes to a shopping complex on the right side of the road.

We would definitely stay here again for the quiet, spaciousness, view, and value.

Pros:
- Spacious one bedroom apartment
- Views of river from living room, bathroom, and bedroom
- Dedicated doorman, other security staff, and secured entrance to building
- Full kitchen
- Clean & modern
- Excellent value
- Away from noise and crowds
- Wifi worked great and was fast at 10 Mbps download speed

Cons:
- Choice of restaurants was a bit lacking in the area
