“Great Location! Excellent Service!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 26, 2013

Stayed for 3 nights last October 2012. Room was quite spacious which includes a study table with office chair, a small table and a very comfortable armchair and a queen size bed with 2 side tables. Bed was very comfy, spacious bathroom with big bathtub, great breakfast, free Wifi, and most importantly the location is very central, perfect for travelers who loves shopping at Ploenchit Road area, and only a few minutes more to the other major shopping sites. Hotel is very close to SkyTrain station aswell.
Hotel offered different types of body massage.Thai massage was very relaxing.Over all service was excellent!

Room Tip: Try to book a room with breakfast included. much cheaper! ;)

Very central location, close to Chit Lom BTS station and walking distance to main Siam station. Warning - if taking train from airport, there are not many escalators, so take into account if you have lots of luggage.

I was told the hotel is a former office building. Bathroom is spacious, but it is glass walls, facing the room, with blinds that go up and down. Shower has both shower head and overhead rain head. Lots of water pressure, to my pleasant surprise. The bathtub is separate and pretty big. Products provided by hotel are by Pecksniff's, an English brand, which are good. Wireless Internet access is very good in the room and the hotel. Coming from the States, I did not need electric converters. All room outlets had the universal type of outlet. Warning - in Asia, they like the mattress extra firm and these beds were no exception.

The gym is great. Very clean and they have a pulley station with views of Bangkok. Water is provided. The changing rooms have a sauna.

Restaurant has a good morning buffet. If you can, spring for the club access. So worth it for the food and beverage after a workout or to get evening stuff.

Desk service is great. I was going to convert money and the woman recommended I go down the block to get a better rate.

Room Tip: Get club lounge access.

We stayed there for 5 mights as a young family with a 4-year old boy and 5-month old baby.

LOCATION:
Location is probably the most attractive feature of this hotel if you want to stay near the major shopping malls. The hotel is within 5 minutes walking distance to the BTS Chit Lom station and within 15-20 minutes leisurely walking distance to Siam Paragon. A very convenient overhead pedestrian bridge makes it very easy to get to the surrounding shopping malls and other sites.

CHECK-IN PROCESS:
A bit slow when it got a bit busy due to the relatively small reception desk but it was bearable.

THE ROOM:
We got a room on the 14th floor facing towards the Central World Plaza and some construction sites. The room is of modern style with a glass-walled bathroom and has most of the basic amenities including bathroom with separate shower and bath tube, flat-screen TV, small fridge and desk. Being a Marriott-branded hotel, the bed is very comfortable.

We had a potable crib in the bedroom which made the room on a smaller side.

The housekeeping service was very prompt and friendly.

THE POOL:
The pool is on the top floor with a roof and was relatively small including the pool side. The worst thing about it was that the water was so cold so I was not even tempted to go in even though I tend to go swimming at most hotels that I stayed at. This was a disappointment.

THE FOOD:
We did not eat there so cannot comment.

OVERALL:
This is a nice hotel but did not appear to us as kids friendly. The lobby was small and there was an event every day so the lobby was usually crowded with smartly dressed people so we rarely hanged around there even for a short rest - we were in T-shirt, shorts and flip flops. There is no sightseeing or tour desk and the information that we got from the concierge desk was pretty limited.

Have reserve a room via hotel website, made several emails to query about transport and other services. Did not get a response back. Very disappointing for a 5 star hotel, seems like there is no one looking after customer query coming from this route.

A superb new hotel; the room was spacious and well equipped. The bathroom has glass walls, but shades can come down for privacy. We stayed on the floor with the Executive Lounge; the breakfast there was outstanding, with a wide variety of foods, both Asian and American/European. We noshed each evening in the lounge and had drinks there while chatting with other travelers or reading/using the internet.

The location of this hotel couldn’t be better. You are right on the skyrail, at the Ratchprasong station, and can catch the connections there to the subway. Once you figure out how to use the ticket dispensing machines and where to get change, it’s quite easy, and we went to a number of destinations by public transportation. We easily went to Chinatown and the weekend market.

I used the gym a few times, but not the pool (although it was beautiful, up on the top floor). We didn’t eat at any of the in-hotel restaurants either. The in-room wireless was fast. We didn’t book any sight-seeing through the hotel, but did go to Ayutthaya one day with a tour company that we booked on the internet (and wouldn’t recommend). What we learned too late that we should have done was to just hire a taxi driver to drive us to Ayutthaya- or any sight, for that matter. They have pretty standard, and very reasonable rates. Many of the taxi drivers have little flyers in their back seats advertising their sight-seeing rates to local and nearby attractions.
Overall, this was a great place to stay during out 6 night stay. We hope to return to Bangkok soon, and wouldn’t even look elsewhere; we would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Room Tip: River view is the best, but many are small. Ask for a corner room; you can likely get this if you...

In no way, am I giving the Renaissance a bad rating. It was a wonderful stay, the rooms were very high end. Our room was a corner room with windows on two sides and a nice view of downtown Bangkok. The bathtub was very picturesque with a huge window to look out, though it looked into another building. The bed was amazingly comfortable and most of all, the staff was extremely helpful, from helping us so we wouldn't miss our flight to directions and restaurant recommendation, etc. The location was right in the middle of Bangkok.....nice!
BUT.....I would compare it to the Chatrium where we also stayed. Though the location was not as good at the Chatrium riverside, the view was better, the suite and bed was just as good, the staff just as helpful and it included breakfast. The only significant difference other than the location and number of stars was the price. The Renaissance was twice as expensive.

Now, this was my first 5 star hotel, so perhaps those of you that will use all the amenities and are not just looking at the room and general service, then you might find the price difference worth it. I did not.

Would I stay here again? Yes, if I got a big discount. But for the money, I'll choose differently.

Recently stayed here for a business trip in Bangkok for 6 nights. Nothing bad to say about the property. As mentioned its location is great, and though it seemed odd having a parking lot between the hotel and the main road, I am sure this kept the noise down.
Rooms were well laid out.
I only ate breakfast at the hotel but the buffet everyday had enough new additions to keep things interesting. A highlight was a red curry Eggs benny and the custom juices they served every day.
Gym was on par with other hotels.
The highlight was the service though. Staff were friendly and attentive and were on top of whatever you needed.
