“Excellent, gay-friendly restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 10, 2011

I can comment only on the restaurant at Vincent's as I have not stayed in the guest-house.

Vincent's is easily overlooked in a very busy soi (street) about 10 minutes walk from the nearest Metro and more or less opposite the Pinnacle Hotel; but I have eaten here many times in recent years and can recommend the freshly-cooked Thai cuisine: ideal for a light lunch or dinner. Breakfasts are also available to non-residents but note that Vincent's is closed on Sundays!

The restaurant itself is small and intimate. This is a gay-friendly establishment and staff are courteous, if sometimes a little laid back. But what the hell, this is Thailand! Vincent himself is usually on-hand, keeping an eye on things and ensuring that customers are happy. For smokers, there is a pleasant sheltered courtyard adjoining the main restaurant.

I always enjoy my visits to Vincent's when I am in the Sathorn/ Silom district of Bangkok and suggest it is well worth exploring. I understand from residents that the guest-house is comfortable and represents good value.

I wanted to travel more, so needed to cut down on my accommodation costs. When you are used to the style and services of a 4 or 5 star hotel, it can be a shock to the system when staying at a very nice guest house. After my 5 day stay, I would never stay anywhere else in Bangkok. Vincent was there every day, to offer any help or advise you needed. The staff were really friendly, and the food was great. Having met some lovely people in Thailand, I am returning in June 2011. you will find me at Vincent's for my BKK part of the trip. Already planning for Phuket in February 2012, and will certainly stay here again. You get real value for money.

Room Tip: The back rooms may be quieter, but the street is k

Vincent's is a nice surprise. Reasonably priced, comfortable and friendly. Rooms in the back are better. Furnishings, though simple, are really quite comfortable and everyone here generally has a smile to offer you. Bathrooms in some of the rooms are quite tiny and that may be the only real drawback. Vincent himself is always on hand to make your stay comfortable, to offer friendly help, and to make sure you are enjoying your stay. He is a hands on type manager and is always quick to handle patrons requests or complaints. The restaurant is excellent and well worth visiting, often. The inn is located on a lively street with all sorts of dining possibilities and handy small shops. Lumpini Metro station is just around the corner.

The minute I walked in the joint, as the song goes, i was met with warm smiles, friendly helpful staff who were all most obliging. Although I was on my own, i was never on my own in Vincents because one or the other of the staff would come and speak to me, as we got to know each other there was always cheerful, cheeky banter, they made me very happy, they all became good friends. The food was good original Thai/ oriental, orders were adjusted if you requested it. Vincent, the owner was always very welcoming, polite and good fun,. Excellent decor inside and out, nice oriental type garden well maintained. Just a good all-round experience

I was sad to read the one bad review of Vincents'. I have stayed at Vincents twice now and have enjoyed my stay. The warmth of the welcome from Vincent himself was superb. He is a very friendly guy who can help you get the best out of your stay in BKK. The location is ideal and the food in the restaurant is good. The rooms could do with a little updating and some decoration, but what do you really want for the good price. give this place a visit and see what you think.

  • Liked — the friendly service from Vincent
  • Disliked — The rooms are a little outdated and need redecoration

Vincent's is rated as the 'best value gay accommodation' in BKK according to a local guidebook, but I didn't think so. I turned up and was greeted with a grunt. When I said I had a reservation/booking, they didn't understand. The room I stayed in smelled stale, and the walls were heavily stained. The furniture was past it's use-by date. The hotel is separated from the restaurant by two doors removing any sense of atmosphere. I originally booked for three nights, but left after one. Went to Heritage Silom for the same price and loved it. On the upside, Vincent's is close to Lumphini met station. If you're looking for gay accommodation in BKK, I think Omyim Lodge is much better.
