“Firm 5 star quality”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2010

This Hotel has an excellent location by the river but short distance to City. This gives a quiet location wit tranquility and cleanliness. We were picked up at the airport by limousine from the hotel and taken directly to the hotel were staff immediately took our luggage and we were checked in at our room - no waiting in queu. Very nice. We have booked at grand suite which was fantastic. The kids loved their own room with flatscreen and direct view to the river. When I needed to go on the Wifi I phoned the reception and 2 minutes later a clerk knocked the door with password. Breakfast is superb wih crispy bacon (not boiled) and sushi etc.. Mornings with view to the river were great. Cool pool - relaxed and good facilities. AND the most fantastic experience - my daughter cut a wound at her foot (not much) but 1 minute after a staff person came running at the pool side with first aid kit and cleaned the wound and put on plaster. AND we had not contacted anyone - it was simply the pool attendant who had observed it and called a first aid staff person. That is 6 star quality.

Always so professional and friendly service - just raise your eye brow and they were ready to help you. The hotel has a shuttle boat to the main pier - we used it several times and went on by the Skytrain.

Just ask the concierge and they arrange everything - at great prices. Nearby 7 11 and Starbucks. AND do try the SPA next door. Good prices if you book through the hotel and the SPA is very nice and good.

I would definitely recommend this hotel before the cramped down town old hotels with thousands of people and smaller surroundings.

Stayed here for 3 nights Feb '10 as stopover on way to New Zealand. Highlights would be the room size (and view over river/city from North side of hotel) and staff who couldn't do enough for you. There's also an excellent large pool deck with spa etc offering great views. The hotel is new, and is very grand. Our room was extremely spacious and included a kitchen area, beautiful bathroom and balcony. The breakfast was excellent. Only drawbacks I would say would be the location (in that you have to get a (2 min) ferry shuttle from central pier - if you're looking to be amongst the hustle and bustle this hotel isn't for you), expensive WI-FI (at £12 a day) and lack of ironing board in room. These are far outweighed though by the luxurious surroundings, extensive ameneties and extremely polite and helpful staff.

Warm, welcoming hotel. Beautiful location perched beside the river. It is a short ride in the hotel boat to the skytrain. The river view rooms are well appointed with stunning vistas - even from the shower! Breakfast is delicious. We had a beautiful meal on our deck one evening. Chatchawan Napawan made us very comfortable. Thank you and we will be back as soon as we can.

When we were last in Bangkok (for our honeymoon) we stayed at The Oriental - an amazing hotel, however we now have 2 children and we didn't want to pay those kind of prices so based on Tripadvisor reviews we booked a 2 bedroom riverview suite here through expedia. What a great hotel!

Before we flew to Thailand we booked a transfer car through the hotel ( there were 4 of us plus big bags and weren't sure of the taxi situation at Bangkok airport) however it was so expensive so on the return we asked the hotel to book us a VW van taxi locally which was a third of the price!

The room was great - we were on the 27th floor and the views were amazing. We had room service for 2 nights on the balcony as we loved the view so much! There was so much space and everything in the room was spotless, the beds the most comfortable that I have ever slept in and the children were thrilled to have their own tv and bathroom . Very nicely decorated.

The pool was very nice to come back to after a day sightseeing and quiet. Nice to be able to get drinks and bar snacks at the pool too. Theres also a seven eleven and starbucks next to the hotel.

Very good breakfasts (crispy bacon too!!) and the dinners were really good - my husband said his Thai green curry was the best he had ever tasted! Service was a bit slow on the night we ate near the river as they had a big group in.

Very welcoming and helpful staff - nothing too much trouble.

The location is not a problem - in fact it was lovely to be a little further out. The hotel boat takes you up the river 1 stop and there you have the sky train, river boats etc. We never had to wait for this service - the boat always seemed to be there!

When we come back to Bangkok we will definitely be staying here!

Chatrium has to be by far the worst No.1 rated hotel on tripadvisor. First of all it doesn't even look like a hotel, it is more of a studio with kitchen and other amenities. THe room is very big and is poorly decorated. Service is terrible, 20 to 30 mins is the minimum waiting time for anything you order. Hotel lobby is no where close to being a 5 star hotel.

It is not a stand alone hotel but built along with two condo buildings and hence are maintaining the same standard. The location is average, away from Siam sqaure, Pat phong road or silom where majority if the action takes place. But the city view from the room is stunning, which can't be experienced if lived among one of those tall buildings.

Dear enigma 1511,

First of all thank you most sincerely for taking your valuable time to provide us feedback after your recent stay with us. We always appreciate having our guests bring to our attention, as you have done, what has not met with their expectations.

The points you raised are well received and we sincerely regret that you have been disappointed with the accommodation as well as style of the hotel. Chatrium Suites Bangkok is an all suites hotel and was designed with the concept of providing a spacious exclusivity and refinement of a home ambience. Many travelers on business or leisure, executive or family, these days would prefer a redefined hotel lifestyle with the convenience of optional self-catering.

Your constructive comment regarding the slow service is taken in the highest regards and please note that we have shared this comment to all Department Heads concerned to take immediate and corrective actions to ensure that this kind of situation will not be repeated in the future.

On a different note, we are pleased to learn that you were satisfied with the Bangkok City View from your room and we sincerely hope that you would love River View much more than this on your future visit to enjoy the great view of River of Kings.

Meanwhile, we hope to be given the opportunity to welcome you again with the Kingdom’s world-renowned tradition of Thai hospitality.

Yours sincerely,
Chatchawan Napawan

My husband and I spent three nights at the Chatrium Suites Bangkok - A Dusit Thani Hotels Partner overlooking the beautiful Chao Phraya River. We were delighted with this property. Its location is excellent. They have their own guest shuttle boat which runs frequently and allows you to make transfers to other locations very easily. Our room was extremely clean and good size, had a very comfortable mattress and its views of the river were spectacular. We had their buffet breakfast each morning and it was delicious.
After sightseeing all day the hotel served as a wonderful retreat to return to each night and we enjoyed delicious dinners there as well. We ate outside and the ambience of the river, the night breezes and wonderful food are memories we will treasure always. And the hotel's staff - outstanding! So eager to please and so accommodating. We recommend this hotel hightly. It is a hidden jewel and we look forward to returning there on our next visit to Bangkok.

I booked this hotel to have a soft landing in Bangkok with my family and I didn't regret it for a second.

The suite, the view, the incredibly spacious pool, the fitness center, everything was perfect and above our expectations. Due to the shuttle boat to the next pier and Sky Train station it is really easy to get to the most important places in Bangkok.

The staff is very friendly and helpful, there is nothing left to improve.
