“Enjoyable Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2014

Stayed with family on two occasions while in Thailand. First was for 3 nights and then we moved up to Chiang Mai and came back for a further 2 nights. On the second visit one of our party was upgraded which was a very nice surprise. We found the rooms to be very spacious and they had great bathrooms with the best showers I have come across. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We chose the rooms without breakfast because there are so many places within walking distance that you can eat really cheap. The hotel offers breakfast at the champions bar for around 299 Baht. The location is ideal for moving around the bustling city of Bangkok. You are about 200 mtrs from the main Sukhumvit Rd where you can jump onto the skytrain.
We would definately stay at the President Palace again.

I have stayed at this hotel for last three years in one of the club rooms. On arriving in the early hours of the morning I did notice hairs in the bathroom [floor] - due to lateness I was stuck with the room. I had a room opposite the club lounge so the smells from same were around the area when food had been cooked. I pointed out the hairs in the bathroom to the manager of the business centre the next day - she promptly had it cleaned but I should have accepted her offer of a different room as I found it dark and gloomy. I had dinner at Champions bar which was dissapointing - a vegan burger which was when it was presented not how it was described on the menu [it should have had courgettes, eggplant , mushrooms and onions - all it had was a limp pattie] I was very hungry so ate it pointing it out at the end. I was informed the chef had 'put all the vegetables in the pattie" [I don't think so]. They offered 'snacks' which i did not want and then insisted I pay for the meal. I was also disgusted one day with the toilets at the pool, they were dirty with toilet paper all around the floor - they were cleaned promptly when i pointed it out to the guy at the bar [who was very good overall]. Another complaint about the pool area is guests hoicking [spitting] in the pool - perhaps a sign telling people not to do this would be a good idea. I notice Steve M says being a regular guest he was always upgraded which I wasnt - maybe this is due to the fact I don't book through their web site [due to taxes and currency conversion]. Another downside is how the hotel obviously allows Thai sex workers to stay at the hotel - personally I find this distasteful and shows how the hotel is used. Yes the staff are generally good and its a bonus staying in one of the club rooms however the food at same is limited and bread in the morning at breakfast is not healthy - on my last day they actually ran out of same . The business centre could do with a make over - I noticed stains on the chairs.

We frequently stay with our family in this hotel whenever visiting Bangkok. It has a great location, close to the main Sukumvit Road, just 5 minutes from the Sky Train station that can comfortably and quickly take you to most tourist or shopping attractions in the city. Travelling with kids, we always get two adjacent rooms which are very spacious so we feel very comfortable. If you are into a night life, this is also a good place - the street at which the hotel is situated gets crowded in the evening with lots of local restaurants and bars on wheels.

Being a repeat guest does have its Privileges. The hotel staff are great always get an upgrade and they welcome me like I was returning home. Keep returning people it is worth it! Tried room service which I had not done before and the menu and food from the "Champions" bar was great.

Room Tip: Go for a high floor room and if possible book one of the executive rooms its worth it. Exec club wit...

Booked this hotel for its location, soi 11 is right in and around the entertainment area of sukhumvit , the rooms are big and have a good sized bathroom (shower only) , front desk staff friendly and quick room service. Within walking distance of German Italian Australian Thai and Irish bars and restaurants, the BTS sky train is just at the end of the street (nana), paid around £40 per night so not bad value for Central Bkk.

First time at the palace and not disappointed. Staff is excellent and I really mean it. You get a smile everywhere you go in Thailand, however only few can smile beyond a dollar value but staff at the palace is well trained, polite and well spoken. Convenient star bucks locate as in foyer, plenty of restaurants in immediate proximity. I ended up in a smoking room which is a little strange as hotel is advertised as entirely non smoking???
Still, rooms are spacious and clean. Definitely no bad surprises if you want a short stay in Bangkok!!!
