“New boutique hotel with good service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2009

I stayed at Hip Hotel for three nights with two friends in March 2009. The things I love about the hotel: clean and big room (big enough to accommodate a third bed comfortably); good service from hotel staff (helpful bellboys and waiting staff at the restaurant); good variety of food for breakfast; big bathtub equipped with rain shower and comfortable bed and pillows.

The only grouse I have with the hotel is the location. The nearest MRT station (Huay Khwang) is a 5-minute walk away but it can be tad inconvenient to travel to the city, having to switch to the BTS at Asok station. If you intend to travel by taxis or tuk tuks, please bring along the hotel address, preferably in Thai, with you to show to the drivers. The hotel is quite new hence many taxi drivers have no idea where it's located. We faced this problem even when we had the address in Thai with us.

Overall I had a great stay at Hip Hotel. I would return again but probably would try to stick to travelling by the MRT!

to add on to Anise's review, we pay about S$110 for the Spa room per night/room. But it doesn't really worth more then the Hi room, that our friends stay in 1005. No wonder when we ask for picture from the hotel regarding spa room, they say they don't have it, in fact I think it is because this spa room doesn't really worth as it look.

Our room 708 should be similar room size as HI room, which is 1005, there are 2 spa room and 6 hi room, hi room is S$90/per night/room.

The only differences, we concluded is the message bath tub, but frankly as the water pressure of the tub is not so strong, so it is not even a very PLUS POINT.

Moreover, our expectation of a spa room is to put in more effort, such as we expect flower patels, or even candles and dim lighting.

BUT, if you refer to Anise attached photo, the King size bed is facing the main door, behind our bed is the window to the other building.

We only had a bath tub with the standing shower together.

However, if you look at Hi room, 1005, the room is bigger and much spaceous, it has separate standing and bath tub, and the LCD TV is being mount onto the wall cabinet.

Their fridge is hidden in the cabinet unlike ours..... and they had a full size window. Hmmmm...and best is their corridor on 10 floor is brightly light then 7th floor that its corridor look like being haunted.

But the overall stay in Hip Hotel is a pleasant one, except on the 1 particular RUDE reception that everyone is talking about, I even tell Anise that we should show her tripadvisor about her bad manners and how popular she becomes.....online.

However, PLEASE BRING THAILAND Hip Hotel address with tel number, coz most of the taxi or tutu doesn't really know where is this hotel.

1st, you show them your Thail hotel address, then show them the map, guide them that they should pass by Esplande, Carrefour, Robinson, then Parrozo hotel (which Hip hotel is behind it)

There are serveral Thail massage nearby, the best one is the most Zen looking massage, we didn't bring back the namecard, but it is the 24hr massage shop, their service is excellent.

if you stay in this hotel, you will had to face traffic jam by taxi to MBK or other Night market. Unless you are going RCA street or Chatucha, then this hotel is near to it.

But don't worry if the taxi meter is on, it is still very cheap to go by taxi then train, from Hip Hotel to MBK, if jam, it only cost us 150butt max, which is included toll fee for expressway, which is equ to S$7.

But we concluded, tutu will be faster (provided you don't mind the air pollution and heat), nego for price, they normally take 4pax a ride at 150butt as well, you can nego for 100butt. They normally takes small road to avoid the traffic jam and you can enjoy the night life in Thail house, where you can see them cook or iron clothing...lol...

HOwever as compare to other 3 star hotel, like Bally studio, at least this hotel has a proper breakfast place, ONLY SETBACK is it doesn't had a swimming pool and shower water pressure is VERY SMALL. Surprise.

But there is a DVD player for you to playback your DVD.

  • Liked — it is so much better then Saram Hotel (GOSH)
  • Disliked — Water pressure, too small
