“Good food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 24, 2013

Ate at their Viva restaurant. Found it to be reasonable price for area. Very friendly staff. Excellent food. Fresh mussels. The restaurant presents itself as a tapa bar, but with the exception of the appetizers, the food was more in line with that of a standard restaurant.

This has become our favourite place to stay in Bangkok. Aside from the really convenient location - a mere 5 mins' walk to Nana BTS and 10 mins walk to Terminal 21 shopping centre - the service here is impeccable. From the front office staff (especially Jaa and Victor) to both the tuk-tuk drivers, everyone is friendly, efficient and helpful. It really made a difference to our stay.

The 2-bedroom deluxe we stayed in was clean, comfortable and so very spacious. The free wifi's good. Air con's nice and cold. Everything works the way they should. Only thing(s) that could have made our stay even better would perhaps be disposable bedroom slippers - that would've been good, given that the floor is not carpeted - and disposable shower caps! Would be a bonus, but not a necessity.

Overall, a great stay. Thoroughly enjoyed it and would definitely return.

We are a family of four and we stayed here for 4 nights in 2 separate studio rooms. It was a good base for going around Bangkok due to its proximity to the metro. I think one of the best features is the free tuktuk service to/from the hotel and metro station. It was always available when we need it (there was only one time when we had to wait for a second trip since it was already full). You need to have a local sim card in your phone so you could call the hotel to have you fetched from the metro station. This was really helpful at night when you're too tired to walk to the hotel (which could take 10+ minutes).

Overall, the hotel was quite clean, especially the room itself and the bathroom. We felt each studio room was very spacious for 2 people. Definitely recommend getting 2 separate studios for 4 people instead of a 2 bedroom apartment.

The lobby floor could be cleaner as well as the pool area. We appreciated the hotel having a pool but it was quite small though we had it to ourselves early in the morning. Can't imagine sharing it with other guests at the same time though - it would definitely feel cramped.

The staff were all very helpful especially when we asked for directions and suggestions for some of the places we wanted to visit. There are also two computers with internet connection for the use of guests near reception. We had free wifi in our room but these computers were really helpful when we needed to visit websites that looked bad on mobile devices.

One thing they could improve on would be the breakfast spread. The selection felt too limited for the price they were charging.

Without a doubt, this is my favourite place to stay in when in BKK.

On a quiet street with easy access out to main street via property's tuktuk at any time of day. Once out on main street, you have the Nana BTS as well to take you around to most spots in BKK. Also along Sukhumvit, you have access to the nightly market, cafes, shopping mall etc etc, endless!

In my opinion, rates are reasonable but hey what's the point of getting good rates if property is bad, staff is bad etc etc

Staff are friendly and accommodating, some of the staff remember me from previous stays. Hotel is well equipped with a simple gym, self service laundrette room, bar and a small square dip pool. Three strokes take you end to end of the pool :) Rooms are reasonably sized, expect a smaller room if you take the studio but their 2 bedrooms are pretty spacious. Take note also that some same category rooms have different layouts, so contributing to overall size and space.

My only complain is the poor breakfast variety.

All in, no doubts about coming back again!

Room Tip: Avoid the adjacent building's carpark facing rooms

I have stayed in hotels around the world on extended-stay basis. This by far has been the worst experience of my life. There is no hot water in the shower I'm lucky if it's lukewarm. The air conditioner unit broke it started leaking water all over the room. The power went out and I was stuck in the elevator for 10 minutes. The washing machine did not properly spin out the clothing they came out extremely wet I went to the front desk and explained the washing machine was not working and the person at the front desk already knew that. She charged me for another wash I complained then she had another person removed token from another machine for me. The fitness center is a joke , extremely unsanitary and the universal machine does not even work. The internet very slow less than 1 meg download speed and worked intermittently. The computers in the lobby worked slow and no printer available , needed to print my boarding documents and the staff would not let me use their computer. Advertising your website a full-size fridge I got a compact fridge and the first one didn't work the Staff had to give me another one.Front desk staff useless. Checked out four days earlier than planned I need a partial refund.

Room Tip: look elsewhere

I write this as we check out after a collective 14 night stay in the last couple of months.

We have stayed here on several previous occasions and although the 2 bedroom suite is the best, the 1 bed room and studios although compact is comfortable and all the necessary amenities like ironing board, safe, etc are thoughtfully provided.

Whether you are in the mood for 'swim or gym' its all there.

The Management and staff at Front Office are very friendly and helpful. The Housekeeping staff do a great job in ensuring that the rooms are thoroughly cleaned. The security and tuk tuk drivers are always smiling and ever willing to assist.

The delightful gentleman that takes care of the tour desk can plan all the sights and sounds in and around Bangkok.

There are several great dining places within a short distance from the hotel. The 24 hr tuk tuk to the main road is a great help. The BTS station Nana is just next to the tuk tuk drop off.

All I can say is that Citadines Soi 8 is Still the best in service and great value for money.

Look forward to my next stay in the not too distant future.

Room Tip: For any guests 3 or more go for the 2 bedroom suite.
