We spent 3 nights at the Salil Hotel, Sukhumvit Soi 8, early December 2009, and were delighted with the friendliness of the small, attentive staff, the comfort and cleanliness of our first floor, street-fronting room, and with the excellent and varied breakfast buffet, which energised us each morning before the serious business of exploring the delights of Bangkok. The hotel is wonderfully located 400 metres down the pleasant soi, away from the bustling Sukhumvit road, with the Nana Skytrain station, offering transport throughout the city, only a few metres from the end of the quiet soi. Some good, inexpensive Thai restaurants sit in this soi, together with a choice of reasonable Thai massage parlours, a drop-your-clothing in the morning, collect before 22.00 at night laundrey service, as well. The compact, uncrowded hotel offers a 24 hour electric golf cart to carry and fetch the lazy or travel-weary guests to and from the end of the soi (a quick call from the 7/11 at the end of the road, and the vehicle glides into sight!). Excellent street bazaars close by, and the middle-eastern section in easy walking distance for a greater range of culinary choices. We would return to this fine establishment whenever we next visit Bangkok, and thoroughly recommend it to all international travellers (free internet service in the neat dining room, and good tv reception, fridges and comfy, firm beds and good towels in all the rooms).
