“Bit far away from the city but worth to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2014

We stayed the resort in rainy season and on rainy day. We were the only guests who stayed the night. Room was clean and could get a hitter so it was good to sleep well. Room was spacious and the bath was really cool. You actually smell the wood (like other reviews) from everywhere which make you feel you are in forest. Another thing I would like comment, the restaurant. They serve you a course meal and the meal price is not cheap but I totally enjoyed the course since I liked it as much as DinTaiFung's one. You should try the dinner course and you will totally enjoy it. The lady can't speak much of English but she is trying to explain what kind of ingredient is made of or sth by google translation. I don't any reason I wouldn't come back there.

Room Tip: request room with a Jacuzzi on the balcony but Jacuzzi in a bathroom is also great enough.

We stay for 2 night with a outdoor spa bathtub, wifi provided and the room is really differ compare my previous experience. Upon check in, a very warm welcome by the resort owner Alan. His cuisine is a must try during your stay. I fully spend my time in the resort without visit any tourist spots. You definitely wouldn't willing to step out once check in into your room. Enjoy forest stay with sound of waterfall.

Only 20 mins by car from nearest metro, Silk Valley is a tranquil hideaway, ideal for anyone wishing to temporarily escape the hustle and bustle of the city. The highlight of Silk Valley is its excellent cuisine. Every dish is thoughtfully designed with ingredients carefully sourced by the restaurant owner.

Room Tip: I would suggest booking in advance and calling the hostel to reserve rooms with either wooden or sto...

Small hotel with cypress wood bed, ceiling and floor..., surrounding by woods and river. First surprise is the outdoor spa area with very nice decorated garden scene. Another surprise is: over one night, I could take good and delighted smell coming from the natural wood inside the bathroom in the morning. At restaurant, you can trust the owner, maybe you don't think his menu is wonderful enough (when compared other good foods in Taiwan), he would give you warm meal which you can feel his passion and joyful.

Room Tip: Room for 4 is comfortable and good enough for family.

Resort is situated on the mid of Yangminshan Mountain
The enviroment is quiet and refreshing. All rooms have a steam bath plus jacuzzi. Some of the jacuzzi are situated in the balcony, it was a great experience soaking in the open when the temperature outside was around 12 degrees C.
Dinner was very good, with the Chef/owner explaining the local and organic ingredients used for cooking. Dining area was in a wooden pavilion situated next to a beautiful stream, which makes meal time a very enjoyable experience. Remember to bring your own fishing rods if you intend to fish in the stream.
We tried the owner's homemade chocolate and vinegar liqueur and they were fantastic, so we bought quite a few boxes and bottles home.
All of us felt fully recharged after our stay and was ready for the Night Markets & Ximending in Taipei.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms with the Jacuzzi on the balcony.

Not a cheap hotel, only 7 rooms and way out on the mountain. Great!!! The rooms are big, beds big and comfortable and the facilities are very good indeed. As well as a toilet, washbasin and shower you also get a steam room and then outside on your balcony a big Jacuzi. By big I mean plenty of space for a six footer and wife to relax looking into the secluded jungle clad gorge. The room (and hotel) are mostly made of high class local wood which makes it an aromatherapy experience for the whole time
The boss is a chef and concentrates on that bit, which is great because he is well up to Michelin standards and his 7 course set dinner should not be missed. Neither should his breakfast, which kept me well filled for most of the day!
To eat you have to walk down steps in the gorge to the wooden restaurant which is fine by me, but have an umbrella for if it rains and it does rain on Yangmingshan! The restaurant is adjacent to an clear unpolluted creek and a big bonus was that I was allowed to fish it. 3 catches before dinner and 2 while breakfast was being prepared. Catch and return so a real eco-friendly paradise.
As a sideline the boss makes superb chocolate ranging from 67% to 99% cacao and a few flavours too, fro sale by the box or the gram. Hard to resist.
