Owner description: At 509 meters high, this was the world's tallest building from 2004 to 2010, when the Burj Khalifa in Dubai surpassed it. The tower is reminiscent of a pagoda or a stalk of bamboo and designed to withstand typhoons and earthquakes common in Taiwan. Floors one through five are a shopping center and both the indoor (89th floor) and outdoor (91st floor) observation decks offer a 360-degree panoramic view.

“Modern and a must-see”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2012

Go to the 89th floor in 40 seconds, and look outside for amazing views of the island. Get some nice souvenirs and eat/shop in the mall in the first 5 floors. A must if you visit Taipei.

“Shopping heaven!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 17, 2012

A lot of branded all over the malls. The prices are bit lower compared to Malaysia's. Shopaholic shall definitely pay a visit and I'm sure you guys will love all the branded outlets there.

“The city's tallest landmark”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 17, 2012

It's a nice way to see a bird's eye view of the city as it's the city's tallest landmark. Expect a lot of tourists and about a 40 minute wait to ride the elevator up to the top, as well as a wait to descend the building. However while you wait in line your photo is taken (which can be purchased later at the photo stand). There are tv displays of the photos on a rotational basis which we found quite amusing. The elevator ride up to the observatory floor is amazingly fast. Unfortunately when we visited the outside viewing area was closed so we were only able to view from the inside which was on the 89th floor. What was most interesting was the damper structure which was engineered and constructed to keep the building from rocking and to minimise the wind effect.

“Great view of Taipei”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2012

We went to Taipei 101 during weekend and it was very crowded. as expected, there were alot of tourist and tour groups. We waited for nearly 2hours before we could get up the building. The lift was really fast and could accomodate alot of people. By the time we went up, it was around 6pm and the sky has darkened. The lights in Taipei is really beautiful.

“A plethora of experiences”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2012

Tapei 101 is a happening. It is a must see both inside and out. For great views of entire Taipei City, an indoor viewing area is accessible on the eighty-ninth floor, even on an overcat day the views are awesome and breath taking, and then go up to the windy outdoor viewing area on the ninety-first floor. while is it "touristy" and not cheap it is well worth it. skip the shopping stalls on the way to the elevator down though. It is Tapei 101 as it has 101 floors. A large Mall of upscale stores is on the Lower Levels with Coach, Louis Vuitton etc. Nice to window shop ! The lowest level is a dream Food Court with all sort of interesting places to linger longer at and try Taiwanese delicacies. Certainly worth the trip The neighborhood is great too wonderful shops and the greatest Bookstore....Taiwan's version of Barnes and Noble
