“Rich history, awesome hot spring”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2013

when in Taiwan, make sure to visit hot springs and it's museum in Beitou (Taipei) it is very accessible by Metro train. from Taipei Main STation metro train if will only take 27 mins to reach XinBeitou (city of Beitou). From the MRT station, you can walk going to the museum, along the way, you can check out the Ketagalan cultural center, some parks with lakes, temple, Plum house, and public hot spring bath, most of all the THERMAL valley which is just few mins walk to from the museum .

The museum is so nice and free entrance, there's this traditional tatami matted floor at the 2nd floor, a traditional Japanese room, at the GF, they have preserved the old bath house, you can also check some photos of a Japanese general, Geisha (which is very pretty), you can also talk to a Japanese person there for some more infos about the Japanese occupation in the old times.

after learning things about hot spring, you might want to enjoy it for real by visiting the nearest hot spring bath house Millenium Hot Spring (this only cost 40NT$/person/entrance).

a must visit, ENJOY!!!

“Definitely a must visit site in Taiwan.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2013

I have missed this museum during my last visit to Taipei in 2011, so I make sure will come here this round. The entrance is free, and though is free, it is well maintained. There are information or pictures regarding the history of Beitou hot spring, the history of Beitou culture, etc. It is really a well keep historical building and a must visit site in Taipei/Taiwan.

“good outdoor spring”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2012

the museum is small, but nice. the outdoor spring is fun, lots of locals go there, and the entrance fee is cheap. other hotspring hotels in the same area are much more expensive.
