“Everything's just great!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2012

We stayed there for only one night, it was amazing. The staff there is very friendly and helpful. They gave us many options about what we could do there. We are still thankful for their kindness. We were staying on the 3rd. floor. In our room, there is a special corner with Japanese tatami, which is just beside the window. What a wonderful view! We spent a long time sitting there enjoying the quietness and that relaxing atmosphere. The bedding was especially soft, smooth and comfortable. Also the breakfast they prepared for us the next morning was really delicious. It's a taste of old Taipei. Everything was great, we both really enjoyed our stay there. We will definitely stay there again. Highly recommended from both of us!!!!

This hotel is surprisingly fresh and beautifully decorated. Very comfortable and luxurious, for a reasonable prize. The staff is lovely, the room and bed I slept in was clean and tidy. The only thing that might be missing is a pool, but the loveliness and the care that is put into the Japanese style decoration of the hotel makes up for it. And if you like hot springs, I definitely recommend going to a natural hot spring anyway, because that's more relaxing, more beautiful, more exciting, more natural, cheaper, and cleaner. 5 stars!

My husband and i were here for 5 days, and it was a really nice experience staying in this cultural hotel to see the real side of Taiwan life. We've always like Xinbeitou because this is an area where you can go to really nice hot spring resort in the Winter, but also it was also an area that was developed by Japanese hundred years ago, which gives Xinbeitou a special cultural atmosphere.

When we checked-in, the hotel staff greeted us with warm smiles. The room isn't like normal 5-star hotels, it is a little bit smaller, but full of Taiwanese culture (They've kept the old roof of the building, which is a nice touch to show travellers the old culture and architecture of Beitou).

The hotel is located in a little alley, which is a little bit hard to find if it's your first time in Taiwan, so make sure you've contacted the hotel staff and print out the map/ directions to save your time finding the hotel. However, once you checked-in, you'll find the hotel is located nicely to anything you want to visit in the area. 5-10 mins walk to nearest MRT stations, 5 mins walk to local wet market for super dilish Taiwanese food, also 5 mins walk to really nice hot spring resorts/ museums/ cultural centres.

The breakfast they offer is also full of Taiwanese character, I like the Taiwanese rice ball very much!

Room Tip: Rooms on the third floor are the best!

the place was recently renovated so it's very clean and cozy. however from the furniture chose and interior design you can tell it has history.
there is no tv or any other entertainment in the hotel except the books in each room. wifi is available. there is also one little "library" in third floor. good for weekend get away.
friendly and helpful staff.
