The Riveriera has exceeded all of our expectations and the staff has consistantly delivered superior personalized care during our stay here in Taipei. We were not prepared for the luxury nor the quality of the entire hotel experience. Beginning with a very attentive lobby staff that takes care of your every need or question, extending to the most marvelous breakfasts (western style) with an in house bakery that far exceeds all of the hotels where we have stayed in Europe. I give the hotel 5 stars for everything except location, and even that is a minor issue...you are a brief inexpensive taxi ride from all of the important sites downtown...you are within 10 minutes walk of the Metro...one of the best in all of the world...again very inexpensive, clean and efficient with trains coming almost every 3 to 5 minutes, and easy enough for even older citizens such as ourselves to understand and navigate (all signs are in English). One more thing...if you are going to be buying any gifts to take back home, let me recommend Taiwan Handicraft Promotion Center at the Nu Hospital Metro Station, gate 2 walk to the new hospital building then turn right for one block. The address is 1 Hsu Chow Rd. Taipei 10055, Taiwan ROC. or you can go to their web site,
www.handicraft.org.tw
or www dot handicraft dot org dot tw

Absolutely the best in local artists and craftsman...three floors of amazing high quality gifts and artifacts.

We stayed 6 nights here on vacation. The room was clean and quiet, with a nice, wooden-floored "office" area at the entrance where you can sit and read the paper or write postcards, etc. The bathroom was perfectly clean and shiny, with plenty of towels, shampoo, and toiletries. Basically, it had all the features we were expecting, and not a lot of stuff we didn't want or need.

Things we especially appreciated:
- It's about a 10-15 minute walk to the MRT station.
- There are several parks nearby, as well as a night market, bank w/ ATM, post office, and (of course) 7-Eleven, all of which we happily took advantage of.
- The micro-fridge, although mostly taken up by minibar items, had enough space for some food and drinks we wanted to keep cool.
- We didn't bring a laptop with us. When we needed to use the internet, we used the internet-capable PC that they keep in the lobby for guests. It worked just fine.
- The folks at the front desk helped us find a decent place nearby to buy a new suitcase when ours broke, which I appreciated, especially given that it was late on our last day and we needed to get to the airport.

Minor drawbacks:
- The exercise area is on the roof. I looked at it, but personally, I think I would have preferred to go running in nearby Xinsheng Park.
- Local calls are cheap, but they are not free. This should be something that they tell you when you check in, but they didn't tell us. We found out later by asking, which is better than finding out when we checked out, but not as good as knowing from the start.

Stayed 6 nights and had excellent service every day. Hotel staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Nice buffet breakfast included. Room was very comfortable and clean. About a 10-15 minute walk to the MRT (which is very easy to use).

Small/ Medium hotel.

Great Service, clean and welcoming environment.

They helped me a lot in planning my trip down south of Taiwan.

The hotel doesn't offer much to the traveller that wants to wind down after a busy day, but it is not that far away from other places.

Internet good, breakfast good.

No need to be too close to the MRT, the taxis are cheap and always available. BUT, make sure you have your address written in Chinese...no taxi driver speaks or reads English in Taiwan!!!!

Downside. Not walking distance from the centre of the city - A 10 minute taxi ride.

  • Liked — service level
  • Disliked — location and being slightly limited because of its size - small

The earlier reviews are fully justified for this great city centre hotel. A well furnished modern room, great breakfast and friendly, helpful reception staff. Reasonably close to the efficient Taipei MRT network. Super value for money hotel
