A week's stay at the Riviera Hotel in Taipei has left me very charmed and pleased with the services at the concierge and business centre. This is truly a boutique hotel catered towards simple and quiet visitors to Taipei. The main drawback would be that the location is quite a walk from subway stations (it is right between two stations), but it is still advantageous for business customers who take cabs as the expressway exit/entrance is very close-by.

The breakfast buffet, however, is not something to write home about. The selection is poor and lukewarm at best. The yoghurt and juice are also at room temperatures. As a stickler for food being served 'just right', it was quite a drama having to request for a chilled can of tomato juice every morning. But as with good service, by the third day, the cans of juice were automatically chilled and waiting for me by 8 am. The good service somehow can make up for almost anything.

The rooftop gym was spartan and the roof grounds were a little too dusty to lay any yoga mats or put deck chairs. But it was nice and quiet without many other hotel patrons. The hotel rooms were standard in quality, size and deco.

If I can't get my regular business hotel at The Landis Taipei which is close-by, this would definitely be my second choice as it is highly value for money.

I have been coming to the Riviera Hotel over the last 10 years and can only say that as a busines hotel in Taipei, it gets better and better and provides all the facilities a business visitor can need coupled with a location close to the Freeways that makes access to and from the Airport as quick and convenient as traffic will allow. It provides fast internet services, both wireless all over the Hotel and LAN in the room free of charge. A few years ago when these facilities were less freely available, the Hotel provided a technologically advance dial up service that required no resetting of Windows settings.
The rooms are spacious with all the usual facilities and a comfortable bed. The rooms have an entrance area in which are chairs, a desk, phone, and chairs that make an office away from home and a place that small busines meetings can be held.
There is also an efficient business centre where help is available to make appointments and calls when there might be a language difficulty. In addition the centre has meeting rooms available for the visiting businessman to talk with up to 6/ 8 people which is provided free for a couple of hours if required.
The ground floor restaurant provides an excellent buffet breakfast and lunches and dinner service.
Only 7 floors high and with a relatively low number of rooms, service throughout is alwaysor highly personalized and efficient, even when busy as is often the case. Nevertheless there is a calm and serene atmosphere about the place that belies the hustle and bustle of busy Taipei outside the doors. The Hotel policy of no Group Tour bookings helps no doubt to maintain its peacefulness.
The Hotel provides a meet and greet service at the airport if pre-arranged and chauffeur service in Mercedes or BMW limousines to other parts of the country if needed.
Whenever I have been there it seems that like m, the other guests have been coming to this hotel also for many years which is further confirmation of a great hotel
that people chose to come back.
My only hope is that by popularising the place even more, it will not make it harder for us old regulars to get a room when we need one.

Stayed here for business recommended by my host.
This is a new small hotel not suffering from supersize anonimity.
The hotel has a clean and nice decoration interior.
The staff is helpful, friendly and many speak decent English.
The complimentary breakfast is enjoyable French cafe style.

The rooms is new, well maintained, equipped with good speed wired internet service.
While I stayed in a street quiet room in the rear, the noise from the rattling exerior air conditioning was disturbing.
You will need a taxi to get anywhere. It is not whithin walking distance from major attractions.

What a great find in Taipei. Don't be put off by the slightly dated and dirty looking exterior of the hotel; the inside is exceptional!

The rooms are of a very decent size with working desk, shower/bath and a very generous supply of shower amenities. Bedding was a standard queen size that was clean and comfortable. Rooms were fresh and smelt clean. I think the pictures attached describe the room better than text.

Without question, all of the staff at the hotel were exceptionally kind, genuinely friendly and very helpful in providing local information. Transport was arranged for us to get back to the airport at very little notice, and I got the feeling that nothing was really too much to ask.

If traveling to Taipei, I would definitely stay at the Riviera again.

My wife and I stayed there with my parents during a 5 day trip to Taipei. We got the king-size bed room and my folks got the two full-size bed rooms and both were very clean and well furnished. It was also very quiet and the free internet was a nice bonus, as were the HBO and Cinemax movie channels. The staff was extremely polite and helpful. The free breakfast buffet was good, with something for Asian and western tastes. We would definitely stay there again.

  • Liked — Big clean rooms with free internet and HBO/Cinemax, helpful staff
