We just returned from four nights at Les Suites Da-An. Based upon reviews in TripAdvisor, we stayed in a Corner Suite, which was comfortable, had ample storage and lovely amenities (including unlimited free bottled water, use of a cell phone, fine shampoo, etc.) and was immaculate. The bathroom had a separate stall shower and bright lighting. We had brought a computer, and the internet connection in the room was excellent.
The staff was amazing! They know all guests by name and go out of their way to be helpful. There is so much staff that you rarely have to wait for information.
Breakfasts were delicious - we rarely needed to have much for lunch as we were so tempted by the food at breakfast. Cookies and fruit are always available.
Within a few blocks, there are several nice restaurants. On our first night, a staff member walked us over to a restaurant as we were unsure of the area. There are also two Sogo department stores nearby.
We had great foot massages not too far from the hotel at a place called Botanical on the 2nd floor across from Sogo. We took an excellent 1/2 day city tour through a company called Edison Travel Service. The subway system is easy to negotiate - we took it several times. The people are unusually helpful and friendly.
You will love Taipei!

I thought that Les Suites Da-An was an excellent boutique hotel experience. It has great location - it is in what for Taipei passes as a chic neighborhood, with L'Occitane and Aveda shops just around the corner. The decor is sort of 21st century minimalist with Asian touches, which works. The common areas of the hotel were simple and small but also striking, clean and attractive.

The staff checking me in at 1:30 in the morning was incredibly friendly. He even gave me some tips to find the dinner I was not able to eat on the plane due to some poor catering decisions.

My room was very attractive also, as others have mentioned. My view was fine, of the city (too bad Taipei is so homely - but then what do you want? As Basil Fawlty once said on Fawlty Towers, "Madam, what do you expect from a hotel room in Torquay? Thunderous herds of wildebeest, sweeping majestically across the plain? The Taj Mahal, perhaps?").

The bed was very comfortable and the free internet access was hassle free and very handy. All the outlets worked, and there are two adapters already in the room.

My only gripe was with the bathroom. Please bear in midn though, that the bathroom looked and felt opulent - I just think there are flaws in design. There is a difference in the floor level of the bathroom and the bedroom (the former is higher) so I would stub my toe invariably on trips to the loo. The water was cold when I tried to shower at 2am, and the shower head, which you have to attach manually into the wall, kept slipping off.

The breakfasts were excellent, with good Taiwanese breakfast condiments available inside the hotel, and the area was well-appointed and had an intimate feel.

This is the second time I'm staying @ Les Suites Taipei and I still say the same - it's excellent service and ambience. Keep it up! your attention right down to the last detail is perfect. surpassing many other luxury / boutique hotels we've stayed in. cheers!!

My wife stayed at their other branch and recommended that I try this one.

Good:
1. nice design
2. friendly staff but see Bad 1 below
3. convenient location

Bad:
1. Rigid rules, eg, refused to accept older series of Taiwanese currency, although it is legal tender. The receptionist told me to exchange the money at the airport! This kind of attitude reminded me of third-class establishments in mainland China.

2. Small rooms. Mine faced a wall -- just two meters away. So much for the view!

3. Erratic maintenance. No hot water on my first night. The plug in the sink left only a little room for water to drain. The TV sets in the gym were out of service.

Overall: Not worth the high price.
