“Just Classy!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 28, 2011

This is the third time that I went to Ambassador Hotel and the first time I was in one of the newly refurbished rooms on an executive floor (9F). The Ambassador never changes: You cannot rate it - the Hotel is just classy. From outside, it looks a bit tired with the typical Taiwanese green front, but inside it is in excellent shape and very well maintained. The service is outstanding, i.e. highly professional and very friendly. The laundry service is excellent: The shirts always have been packed in single plastic bags. The new executive rooms have been refurbished in a modern tough practical manner. However, the old rooms are also very good. The Hotel and the rooms are extremely clean. Also, you do not have to fight to get the linen changed or to obtain additional towels. On request, they change linen daily and there are always enough towels in the bathroom. The location is excellent: Some five mins from the next MRT and a bus stop just outside the hotel. (Yes, in TPE I used busses very often.) If you are looking for an old-fashioned (in a positive sense) yet efficient hotel in the upper range, then I only can recommend Amassador. It is one of the very few classy hotels. I never ever had a single complaint since I went to the Hotel.

Room Tip: A room facing Chung Shan North Road. Nice view.

This hotel is a well known hotel for hosting diplomats and international guests for decades.
The lobby is elegant and the staff are very friendly and courteous. It has quite a number of excellent restaurants, cafes and a bar.

I stayed here for 4 nights for a conference and the conference organisers have put all of us at different floors. Most of the conference guests got to stay at the executive level on level 11 and a few unlucky ones like me stayed at the standard floor. Don't get me wrong. It's still nice at a standard room. It has got all I need. A clean bathroom and standard comfortable bed. However, it is an very old hotel thus there is still a tinge of cigarette smell at the corridor. The room is still refresh.

It's only less than 5 min walk to an MRT station. There are plenty of shops and restaurants around and there is also a department store just 1 block away. It has excellent location.

If you have a chance, stay at the executive level. I heard it's very nice.

Room Tip: Choose executive level at floor 11

The location is superb, close to metro station, the staff is ultra friendly. Although to be honest, I really can't tell if the staff were friendlier than the usual Taiwanese folks, everybody on that island was ultra friendly..... Modern interior on the executive suites floors, elegant breakfast.

I recently was part of a group staying at the Ambassador, after reading some of the reviews I had upgraded my room to a pool room giving good access to the the fourth floor pool and avoiding the bad views that had been mentioned in previous reviews.
The whole of the fourth floor and my room smelt of damp, the room was old and in need of a serious upgrade.
I had just spent two nights in the Express Holiday inn at Taichung and it left this hotel in its tracks.
Our group seemed to be the only westerners in the hotel, we tried to book in to the steak house and were told it was not a problem but when we went to get our table we were told it was full.
We then tried the restaurant on the top floor and walked out after 15 minutes after being ignored and not even offered a drink.
There are better hotels in Taipei and I suggest that if your are staying in the fine city look elsewhere.

Room Tip: Dont waste youe money on the pool rooms

My husband & I were extremely pleased during our visit to Taiwan earlier this month when we stayed at The Ambassador in Taipei. Upon approaching the grand lobby to check-in, a concierge was there to help us with our luggage & parking. We booked a standard room that was a bit on the smaller side especially the bathroom, but it was well equipped with a pull out sofa sleeper & a fully stocked mini bar. The 42" flat screen TV had a welcome message which was a nice added touch. Our room also had direct access into the swimming pool area, other facilities include: fabulous restaurants on the premises, business lounge, in-room safe, toiletries & guest robe, gym, internet at cost. What we loved best was the location which was superb within walking distance to many local venues. We would definitely be back again soon & stay at this hotel especially at the special rate we found online.

I just spent the last few days fo Dec 2010 and the new years in Taipei. It was hard to get a hotel directly in central taipei and thus ended up booking this hotel. At first, I was concern about the distance, but the MRT station is five minutes walk. The surroundings is full of food and its near the high end shopping strip. Zooming around on the MRT was easy as it was techically in the middle between the shopping district and some of the night markets location. The hotel was clean and the staff was great at giving directions. I would stay there again, an accidential good outcome.
