“Great location and affortable price”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2014

Just situated 2 mins from the train station and located near to cafes.
Welcoming receptionist and superb service.
The price is really affordable for Taipei and the room is nice and clean.
Highly recommended for a budget stay in Taipei and if you want to stay away from the hustle and bustle of Xi Men Ding.
If you missed the breakfast, there are Taiwanese breakfast shops just nearby the hotel and they are cheap and good!

They allow you to keep your luggage if you reach before check-in time or your return flight is late after the check-out. The receptionist were really helpful in helping us to call for a cab to the airport as well.

I have come to Taipei many times. The Purple Garden is a very exact type of hotel. It is not the most luxurious, but if you're looking for a inexpensive hotel a short walk from the Taipei main bus and train station, then this is the best I've found.

Literally you walk 7 minutes and you're there from the station. There is easy transport with a metro nearby. Movie theater, restaurants etc.

So, the pros of staying here is the cost (very inexpensive compared to other hotels) and the location.

On the downside, the rooms are only moderate. Beds are a bit too hard. No closet (but has hooks on the wall for hanging clothes). Breakfast Chinese style not American/English breakfast. Kind of like similar to any of the hotel chains in the USA on quality (like a Best Western, Days Inn etc.) I've never seen anything bugs in my room or had them be dirty though. And they do have WIFI and Air conditioning.

I guess it depends mostly on what you're looking for, but hopefully this gives enough data to help decide if this would be the type of place for you.

We booked this hotel after reading the comments in Tripadvisor. The location is great. Just next to the subway exit which is very convenient. Room is clean. Aircond works well. Bed is nice to sleep. Bathroom is clean with transparent glass. Flat screen tv with many channels. Breakfast is simple with porridge and condiments. They have luggage storage available. Lift is located on first floor with max 3 adults only. It is worth the price we paid overall and it is not a problem finding the hotel. Will recommend friends to stay here if you are in budget.

The hotel is in between zhong San station and Taipei main station. If we are exit R4 or R5. If u exit from r4 the hotel is just at your left side. And behind a coffee joint call 85c . The main entrance is small.
The hotel is about 10mins walk from Taipei main station. ( underground )
Room size acceptable. Non smoking building ( all Taiwan hotel ).
staffs are helpful enough.
Breakfast OK. Taiwan porridge. Room is clean.

Only NTD 1890 a night for a double room with free breakfast. The hotel is not so new but really clean. Room is complete with free toiletries and complementary bottled water. The breakfast is the usual Taiwanese porridge with side dishes. Not really my taste but i am super surprised that we even have breakfast with the rate we are paying.

I would come back and recommend this to anyone who is going here in Taipei :)

Make reservation without deposit for foreigners, ask for show room before we paid. Receptionist was friendly. The lift is on 2nd floor. The room that we got is smelly but after informed them, they actually spray some air freshener, so is okay. Stay 4 nights, paying NTD1390/NTD1590 per night include with breakfast, however we only take breakfast for 1 day. Rooms has wifi, they provide the password upon arrival. Room key have to leave at reception counter whenever you go out.

Location is good, Zhongshan station R4 exit you will reach hotel. Around the hotel has lots of shops, very convenient.

Everything is okay, for budget can consider to stay at purple garden hotel.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2012

Stayed for 4 + 4 nights end Oct/early Nov. We were given a room on the 5th floor. Room is adequant (average small) and toilet/shower are separated from the room by frosted glass. It was until the last 2 mornings of our stay, we can hear loud noises from other rooms closing the doors before checking out like 7am in the morning.
Location is exit R4 of ZhongShan MRT station. They even allowed us to leave our big luggages there as we left to JiuFen for a night. Room was cleaned daily and we have clean sheets n towels everyday. Location is very good considering the price of NTD1390/NTD1590 per night. Breakfast is simple : porridge with 4-5 side dishes or toast bread. Service is good and all the receptionists were very friendly with us. Their lift is on the 2nd floor, it is a bit of inconvenient but other than that, I'm satisfied with my stay here. Recommended to budget travellers with convenience of location in mind.
