“Good Location & Value for money”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 6, 2013

Make reservation without deposit for foreigners, ask for show room before we paid. Receptionist was friendly. The lift is on 2nd floor. The room that we got is smelly but after informed them, they actually spray some air freshener, so is okay. Stay 4 nights, paying NTD1390/NTD1590 per night include with breakfast, however we only take breakfast for 1 day. Rooms has wifi, they provide the password upon arrival. Room key have to leave at reception counter whenever you go out.

Location is good, Zhongshan station R4 exit you will reach hotel. Around the hotel has lots of shops, very convenient.

Everything is okay, for budget can consider to stay at purple garden hotel.

Stayed for 4 + 4 nights end Oct/early Nov. We were given a room on the 5th floor. Room is adequant (average small) and toilet/shower are separated from the room by frosted glass. It was until the last 2 mornings of our stay, we can hear loud noises from other rooms closing the doors before checking out like 7am in the morning.
Location is exit R4 of ZhongShan MRT station. They even allowed us to leave our big luggages there as we left to JiuFen for a night. Room was cleaned daily and we have clean sheets n towels everyday. Location is very good considering the price of NTD1390/NTD1590 per night. Breakfast is simple : porridge with 4-5 side dishes or toast bread. Service is good and all the receptionists were very friendly with us. Their lift is on the 2nd floor, it is a bit of inconvenient but other than that, I'm satisfied with my stay here. Recommended to budget travellers with convenience of location in mind.

we paid 1500 per night for a twin bedroom. we stayed on the 6th floor so its the highest floor. really noisy. as there was someone who did their laundry at 11 in the night, and the noise from the pipes as well. bed was really hard and i didn't like it at all but the toilet seemed to be recently done up so it looks new but the room itself looks like it needs some renovating. breakfast was provided with porridge and its condiments. the lady actually is quite ok, friendly when you get to know her. no wifi...which sucks as well but at least there's a pay phone at the lobby. toilet roll is far from the toilet bowl which is quite weird in itself. last day we experienced earthquake at 5 am in the morning which we went back to sleep, but i would have appreciated more if the staff would have come up and explained to us since we're foreigners.

Room Tip: avoid the 6th floor!

3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2012

We stayed at the Purple Garden Hotel at the end of March 2012. We were expecting a really bad experience after reading the reviews, however it was a pleasant surprise. The hotel is really well located next to a main underground station and there are many shops and quite good restaurants in the area. We were met by a very friendly receptionist and were shown the room before we paid. Our room was very clean and functional with a nicely designed glass bathroom on one side. Our room smelled fresh and I checked the bed sheets etc. which were all clean. We stayed for three nights and they changed the towels and bedding each night. The air conditioning worked well for two nights on the third night it had problems, but it was quite cool so we opened the window. The hotel provided breakfast, but it was a Taiwan breakfast that I could not eat, however my wife seemed to like it. You can get a perfectly good breakfast for about $NT100 (~£2.00) in any number of nearby cafes.
Overall for the price it was a very good deal and an acceptable stay.

Room Tip: Ask to see the room first and I suggest you pay for one night only to start in case it's not to...

http://www.purplegarden.com.tw/

Location - just a stone throw away from R4 exit, within 5 mins walk to Zhongshan station and approx. 10 - 12 mins walk to TMS/Railway/HSR stations. We traveled with 3 children age 3, 6 & 9.

Reception - small lobby, no lift @ lobby. Need to climb stairs to level 2 to take a small and slow moving lift. Lift can only accommodate 3 person or max 200kg. Depending on who's manning the Reception, the male staff are very friendly but not the lady staff.

Rooms - booked a Family Room 601 @ level 6 (NT2100) and a Standard Room 508 (NT1350).
@ Family Room is badly maintained, with mouldy walls. No storage space, just 8 hanging hooks. Although it is a room for 4, they only provide 1 bottle of drinking water. Bedsheets with stains, not changed daily. Pillows stink. Family Room is not carpeted, old TV set. Lots of mosquitos on our first night stay. We managed to kill most of them.
@ Standard Room is carpeted, comes with LCD TV. Has a metal rack above bathtub to hang towels and washed lingerie. Served 1 bottle of drinking water too. Aircon control is bad, temperature fluctuates up and down throughout. Highlighted to reception and was told will do something about it. Temp still up and down but better than 1st night. We don't have the aircon issue in Family Room.

Bathroom - For our family room, the toilet roll holder is just located besides the sink. So when you turn off the tap with wet hands, water will be dripping all over the toilet paper causing it to be wet. Poor design. Water leaking from sink, told reception and was told they will fix it but nothing was done. Water pressure not consistent, temperature control is not too good too. Not much space for toiletries. A dark coloured carpet-like bath mat outside the toilet, not sure if the change the mat after each check-out.

Beds - The bed @ Standard is soft and comfortable whereas the Family Room's beds are extremely hard.

Self laundry - located at level 6 just beside the family room. Very convenient as it is just next door. I did all my laundry there. Detergent @ NT10 from reception, NT30 for 1 wash cycle, dryer @ NT10 for 30 mins.

Breakfast - room rate comes with oriental breakfast or western. Oriental breakfast is sweet potato porridge with 4 side dishes. Western is just bread and egg. I appreciate the oriental breakfast as we had so much junk the night before and it's good to down a bowl of plain porridge.

No WIFI, only cable.

For a Family Room, I'm giving this a 3 star mainly because of the location, the male staff and their oriental breakfast. Otherwise, I think it deserves a 2 star. But if I've stayed in the Standard Room, I'll give it a 3.5/4 star as it is more value for money.

Room Tip: Elevator serves only level 2 to level 5. Not suitable for disabled, elderly or family with young ki...

This is an affordable hotel near Taipei Station / Zhong shan Station.
During arrival at Taipei Station, we just lost and cant find the Hotel because it is located @ alley where you really need to dig around.
The easier way is to follow the underground path along Taipei Station --> Zhong Shan direction, and take exit at R4 or R5.

Room are clean, but the air-cond stop operating intermittently.
The breakfast for two days is porridge menu, not bad, served with 4 mini dishes. (better if they could add a cup of coffee :-) )

No attraction spot near by the Hotel, but you got the convenience store just opposite the hotel. I think the location (near to MRT station) is the main plus point.

We booked 2 rooms. Check-in time 5pm. We arrived after 9pm and was told only 1 room was ready. When the room was finally available, it was already 10.30pm! Not only that, despite the hotel stating non-smoking rooms, the room had smoke smell...luckily, we had our own fresherner!

We left and return to the same hotel a few days later. The same thing happened again...only 1 room was ready. When the room was finally available, it was on a separate floor from the other room! The room had mosquitos. When we told the staff, they simply brushed off that since we had killed some, that itshould be fine!!! We insisted that they sprayed the room...

Also, though the hotel has separate air conditioner control in the rooms, the air conditioner can also be controlled by the hotel. We had our air conditioner temperature turned up and the room was very stuffy resulting in poor sleep!

Only plus point is the breakfast which we found lovely and sufficient.

If you have more money to spare, suggest staying at other hotels near station!
