“Nice hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2014

The hotel is new and nicely decorated and the location is great. There are so many bars, restaurants, shopping malls around. There is always something to do nearby, early morning or late night. The subway station is very close as well. I think the hotel is catering mainly for the business people becaus there was not a spa and the whole atmosphere was a bit dull. Having said that, i have this opinion as i was on a holiday and wanted to have some fun otherwise there is nothing wrong with the food, cleanliness, rooms or staff attention.
I would happily go back to Le Meridien, it was a nice experience.

What a fabulous hotel! There has obviously been a very talented designer weho conceptualized the flow and character of this hotel, with surprising and thoughtful art pieces and installations all through the space - a spectacular metallic giraffe, quirky sculptures and drawings. I particularly loved the installation at the lift lobby of the 10th floor - twisted metallic pieces and strategically directed light cast words on the wall!
The bedrooms are sumptuously comfortable - huge bed with crisp sheets and soft luxury down quilts make you just want to fall in bed. The air conditioning is silent and temperature control perfect. The room was also very quiet and we had deep and refreshing sleep.
Service is definitely beyond even my high expectations - The concierge, butler, restaurant staff, front desk etc gave unhurried, warm and prompt attention to any request.
And don't miss the breakfast buffet - great selection of high quality. The flavored porridge with braised pork belly was sinfully delightful. The fruit selection was excellent and all juicy and sweet.
Location is perfect - Four blocks of Mitsukoshi shopping and Taipei 101.

I was on a business trip a few weeks ago in Taipei, I wanted to stay at W Taipei but it was too expensive, within the same area I could have Le Meridien so I decided to have a try.

This hotel is pretty new, according to websites it's only ~3 years in age so everything new inside. When I stepped into my room I can even see a blu-ray player is already there! (Unfortunately I didn't bring my Planet Earth disc with me :( ) And one thing I really like is, they have Japanese style flushing toilet (the same for Sheraton Grande Taipei).

I arrived hotel before 1PM, which is a bit early for check-in, but front desk staff was very helpful to look for immediate vacancy for me, so I eventually got a much earlier check-in and I was able to go out for leisure.

Due to my shoulder and arm injuries previous days I went to the SPA facility almost every night, it's not a very big one but already enough for me to relief all those pain, and it has a quite long opening hour (closing at 2300), which fits people who are on a business trip like me.

Comparing with W Taipei, this one shows a really competitive price but not sacrificing quality, both of them are close to Taipei 101 so if someone would stick with SPG hotels then Le Meridien can be a very good option for business travel.

Many hotels in Taiwan try hard to please with "interesting" concepts and decor. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Le Meridien Taipei doesn't try..it doesn't have to. The hotel is a crisp clean modern take that does a very stylish, high quality job that is not nearly as cold and brutal as some of the younger, more local properties. We reserved a suite for the evening and while not cheap ( @ 9500NTD) it delivered in all areas. The suite was very roomy with innovative sliding walls that allowed you to configure your room to a certain degree. The floor, walls, and surfaces all covered in quality fabrics, woods and marble were clean and with a soothing color palette that transmitted wealth and comfort. Bathroom was huge with separate stalls for toilet and shower. Amenities were top notch imported in all areas of the bath. In room coffee was Nespresso ( best cup ever for hotels)...mini bar well stocked and not overly priced. Wifi powerful and convenient. Three TVs in the suite ( two 42's and one bath tub) ...all in all a very good value for money....its our choice in Taipei now.

Room Tip: 5 minute walk to the Taipei City Hall station on the Blue line adds extra convenience !

Interior Decor:

Immaculate every atom. Color scheme very soothing and well-balanced. Oozes a chic sense of Zen throughout the air. Love it!

Bathroom:

Totally functional. Strong water pressure. Different options of water streams. A nice shower after a full day’s shopping spree. Soap from Britain. Shampoo & body wash both of excellent quality – their package looks soooo posh.

Sound-proofing:

Good enough for a light sleeper.

Location:

Cannot be better!!! Turn left from the lobby entrance and walk 3 minutes and you are in the best shopping premises in Taipei!!! We shopped two full days and brought all purchases into our room before freshening up and going out again to loot, aha!!!

Services:

All staff members effortlessly demonstrate the true definition of good trainings. All questions answered immediately and pleasantly. Bellboys very, very helpful. Ladies in the concierge counter are agreeable and adorable – they talked to you about tiny details of their beloved city and recommended nice eateries to try local dishes!!!

Gym and pool:

Immaculate and very well-equipped. Totally functional.

Acknowledgements:

I forgot two pieces of my clothes in the room when checking out. After recalling this and calling them from Hong Kong, the concierge lady and gentleman immediately suggested sending them by courier back to my city. Super job!!!! Thanks a zillion!!!

Will stay here for sure when in Taipei next time.

BTW: Taipei is a lot BETTER than Shanghai or any other China Mainland city, in all respects. Believe me, if you want to experience a real slide of Chinese culture.

basically i went to the gym every night during my stay in Taipei, and i just noticed that some guest was allowed to play really noisy music in lady's changing room and shower area. also, some guest just used A LOT OF towels as carpets, yes, all over the floor. it's very not environmental eco friendly for 1 guest to use almost 10 towels, and also it's very disgusting to imagine that those towels you're wrapping over your body have been placed on the floor. i don't understand how come a hotel like Meridien can be so careless.
