“Think carefully before you decide to stay in this hotel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 13, 2011

Our family stayed in this hotel from Jan 31 to Feb 3, 2011.

We would like to share the following experience we had:
(i) There was no heat during our stay. The room was freezing cold when we checked in. We called the front desk and were first told to turn up the thermostat. We did that and there was still no heat except fresh air. We called the front desk again and were told they had no heat. The front desk then gave us a portable heater and advised us to turn off the air. We had to heat up the room before we went to bed and turned the portable heater off when we went to bed as it was very noisy. Since there was no fresh air over the night, all of us had very bad headache the next morning. We had headache during our stay in that hotel and destroyed our vacation in Taipei.
(ii) We noticed that the room had a very small window and the worst thing was that it was secured by iron bars from outside. In case of fire, there is no escape through that window.

I went to Taiwan for 2 weeks and stayed in Mai Hotelon my arrival at Taipei. After that I rented a car and travelled through the island. On the way back to Taipei we decided to stay again in Mai Hotel. It has a very central location (5-10 min walk from Zhongshan MRT station and in a walking distance from Taipei main station). Rooms are very clean and the staff is excellent. At the end, while typhoon Funapi crossed the island, we were invited for a barbecue with the staff.
At the end they helped me with the online booking for my flight.

I stayed in Taipei for a week and was so glad I spent the whole week staying at Mai Hotel. Not only is the location great (convenience stores a minute walk away from the lobby and a good Taiwanese restaurant just across the street), the Zhong Shan MRT is about 5 mins away with 3 large shopping malls (xin guang san yue) with an array of shops and restaurants surrounding the MRT. Taxis are easy to come by at the doorstep of the hotel.
What i love too is the cleanliness of the rooms, the large flat screen tvs, the bathtub and modern furnishings, the thoughtful choices of tea, coffee and a packet of crisp, the toiletry amenities that even include a hairband and pantyliner and the cute little messages on the wall (mine said 'share your dreams').
The staff are friendly, examples of the warm hospitality the Taiwanese are known for and the breakfast fulfilling with fresh salads, fruits, a choice of bread and porridge. there's also newspapers and magazines as well as free internet usage on the two laptops near the dining area.
Basically i love love love this hotel, its not so big it becomes impersonal but its not so small it feels like those crappy budget hotels. This is a hotel that is truly value for money with all the ideals a excellent mid-range hotel should have. I would only want to pay money to stay in Mai Hotel in Taipei and would recommend this to anyone.
so quick book now! you wont regret it!

People of this hotel is very nice. Location is acceptable. Room is good, especially the bathroom, very spacious and water power is good. Forget the breakfast. I stayed in deluxe room, the only bad point is it only has a very small window. The hotel apologized for that because hotels in TPE wre very full in the week I went there. Anyway, i think Mai Hotel can be one of the hotels to be considered if you go to Taipei.

We spent 2 nights at Mai Hotel and were very pleased with our choice. It is located within 5 minutes from the nearest MRT station but we travelled mainly on the Tai Pei Station ( a 10 minutes walk) as it is a more central station to many sightseeing spots. The outlook of the hotel is not at all impressive, situated in a side street. But once you are inside, you feel the friendliness of the staff and the cleanliness of the building. The hotel although small, has a fashionable design and the room is well furnished with free internet access, 2 bottles of water, tea and coffee bags and a small pack of chips.
The breakast buffet is more than adequate to make you full for the whole morning. They did make some variety on the hot food every morning.
Some negative points here: the cups were not cleaned and were left lying where they were with water still inside. Besides, while you were taking your bath, water would leak out from the bottom to the drainage, making part of the floor very wet. Not really a big problem as the water would be drained up fairly quickly.
If you are thinking of staying at a hotel with good service at a convenient location, Mai Hotel is a choice.

I highly recommend Mai hotel if you want to stay in Taipei. Hotel is new, clean and big. Bathroom is big. Room is exactly as same as the website shows. Price is reasonable. ( I got a free upgrade from the staff for the sake of my convenience ). Staff is friendly. Helped me communicate with the hotel booking agent in Taiwan. Location is good. It's located between two MRT station. Walk from MRT station to hotel is just few minutes time. It's also safe to walk at late night. Local hawker and food shops are still open until late night. My honey also praise this hotel, though he seldom did that. I will stay here again when I go taipei. No reason for me to choose the others when u know this hotel satisfy all your needs. Also, it's perfect room for couples.
