“A more quiet and not so busy hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2013

The hotel cannot be easily classified as a convenient and easy to go around. One has to walk quite a distance to Longchan and Ximending subway station. Food can be bought behind the hotel where there are a few eateries and a Carrefour Supermarket is right opposite the hotel. The rooms are quite big and spacious with a king size bed thrown in. It is good for those who wants a bit of quiet surroundings. The staff are friendly and helpful.

I spent 2 days here during a business trip last week and really enjoyed my time there. Fruit and water were provided on arrival in my room and the breakfast had excellent variety and selection. I didn't see any in room coffee, but that is certainly not a deal breaker. The location of the hotel is within the city and around a large amount of place to eat and visit. I would certainly stay there again.

The only part that I felt was lacking a little was the fitness center and the treadmills. They are of lower quality and tend to slip some while running on them.

Room Tip: High rooms have a great view.

Dear valued guest

Thank you on behalf of Taipei Garden Hotel for submitting your comments so that we can better improve our hotel. We were very pleased to hear some of the compliments you have stated in your comments, You did have one area where you weren’t satisfied and we immediately went to check the treadmills on that day. The guest’s safety is of course one of our main concerns so we have taken into account your helpful comment.
Thank you again and we hope to see you again soon.

Best regards

This is a very good hotel with large rooms nicely decorated. Each day there a 2 free bottles of water in the room. The hotel has a couple of restautants and 2 breakfast area's: one with Asian breakfast and one with western breakfast. As I am not Asian it was a relief to be able to start the day with a large choice of western food, yoghurt and juces. Also that western breakfast area is much more quiet than the asian one.
The hotel is situated well, on walking distance from Ximending and a short and inexpensive taxi drive from the 101 district and from the high speed rail train station.
The reason to score this hotel 4 instead of 5 points is the fact that there is no swimming pool; there are only 2 small tubs on the roof terrace.

If you want to be near the busy shopping belt yet still have a quiet evening at the end of the day to sleep then this is the hotel for you. It's near to the subway, near ximending, near huaxi night market. All within walking distance. The hotel lobby is not too big but enough the restaurant is big enough to cater for all the guest. High floors and unblock view is a plus. Cleanliness and friendliness is another. It was a pleasant stay in a vibrant city.

The hotel is new and nice with good security. The room is clean, tidy and spacious. The most attractive of the hotel is the location which is near to Ximunding and Huahsi night market. But the quality of the front desk staff is out of our expectation. One of the staff is a little bit impolite and even rude, I think. And they are not professional too. We had left something at the previous hotel and the staff of that hotel sent me those thing by courier. We noted the front desk of the Taipei Garden hotel but still the staff refused the courier. And when we asked of the reason, the front desk staff cannot answer and said, 'Oh, is it?' This makes me reluctant to visit this hotel again.

Location: It is within walking distance from the Ximending station and shopping area. We found the distance tolerable. We didn't try the other station. The hotel was located just along a main road and we had no issue flagging down cab too.

Security: The lift required guests to scan their room card and I thought that is a good to have feature.

Breakfast: The selection was quite wide, and my picky children had no issues finding something they liked to eat. It wasn't noisy or crowded (as described by some) whenever we had our breakfast, maybe it was the timing (we usually had ours at 9am).

Check-in: It was swift and I thought the staff were all very polite/helpful (I thought I read some reviews about rude staff). The hotel didn't have connecting room and hence they politely obliged when I requested for the 2 rooms to be near each other. Although they couldn't do it on the 1st day, they changed it on the 2nd day. On the 2nd day, even though it was handled by different staff, somehow they seemed to be in the know and I applaud them for good handing over.

Room: Was of a good size with plenty of space for our luggage. Plenty of channels on tv. Toiletries are sufficient except no hair conditioner (for me that is a must). The toilet comes with a separate tub and shower area which I thought is a good design. As our days were packed, I didn't have time to try the tub. The housekeeping ladies were friendly and helpful.

Room Service: We ordered room service which was tasty and quick to come. The serving was big.

The only thing I feel that the hotel can improve on is to offer free wifi. This is definitely an item which I will consider whenever I choose a hotel. Hope the hotel will consider that.

I like the fact that the rooms are clean and bright and have big windows and the staff are competent and polite -- but there are big drawbacks. Free Wi-Fi is no big deals these days but this hotel charges NT400 (USD 13) a day for it -- most of the time we just wanted to check our emails and to check up places we wanted to visit so we only needed it for about 30-40 minutes a day. We think the charge was too excessive as you can't even choose to pay for just an hour or so. Also, the main hotel western cafe/restaurant doesn't provide food from an a la carte menu -- we just wanted to have a simple and quick pasta or sandwich but was told they only have buffets, or else we had to try the Japanese or Chinese restaurants. So despite the fact that we wanted to eat a simple meal at the hotel, we had to seek alternatives outside, which isn't very handy when you have two tired young children. Another thing is the lack of free swimming facilities, despite the fact they have a floor with a pool, they charge you for using it for 40 minutes -- ok it's part of their spa section, but what about people who just want to have a swim and not get charged for dunking in water full of flower petals? We were travelling with children so that was no good for us. We just feel the hotel isn't ideal for families -- when you have children it would be handy to eat at a restaurant at the hotel without the hassle of venturing out to look for restaurants, and an ordinary pool would be great for a family holiday. Free Wi Fi is what you would expect from a upmarket hotel like this one that charges quite a bit. Sadly none of these were available so we don't feel it was worth the money we paid. Would definitely NOT return.

Room Tip: Ask them not to put you next to the lifts -- we could hear it going all night. It wasn't extrem...

Dear Valued Guest,

Thank you for staying at Taipei Garden Hotel and taking your precious time to share your comments with us. I am happy to know that you were satisfied with our staff service and room.

However, I apologize for the fact that you were disturbed by the noise and suffered inconveniences during your stay with us. I would like to kindly clarify in order to avoid any misunderstanding. We do provide an a la carte menu at our bar. Also, our property was not adequate enough to sustain a pool. So, we were unable to provide one. Your comments will also be sent to related departments within our hotel. We hope that together, we can provide a more convenient and relaxing environment for our future guest. As for your other highly appreciated comments, we will work harder to match your needs.

Once again your review is highly appreciated. We wish we will have the chance to serve you again.

Sincerely
