“Some negatives, some positives...the negatives win!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2013

Stayed here for ten days while visiting family. My room was a deluxe suite. The room size was good with a reasonable, but not luxurious, amount of extra space. The bathroom was ok but the shower door would not close properly. The bed in my room was comfortable but the sheet covering the quilt was too small, so it usually resulted in "twisted sheet syndrome" each morning. Overall the room was ok-ish.

The 12th floor was quiet in general. Other lower floors of the hotel are filled with tour groups, and...uhhh...they're noisy to say the least. Really noisy. And their behavior in the breakfast area each morning could be best described as "locust-like".

The room cleaning was passable with one big exception:. They are very tight with simple amenities like bottled water and toilet paper. For example, if you have a 1/4 roll of toilet paper left, they won't change the roll or leave an extra one. If you have half a bottle of water left, they won't give you a new one. If you've worn your paper-thin slippers for a week, they still won't give you a new pair even if you place the slippers in the trash can. In my view, this penny pinching is a very foolish business strategy.

The buffet breakfast was a total disaster. The food was completely below standard in terms of quality and authenticity. Disgusting wet runny eggs were a daily sight. Undercooked bacon, soaking wet plastic "ham", and mushy boiled cabbage completed the picture. Even the Chinese noodles were a daily miss. How can they screw up Chinese noodles?! There was supposed to be a fried egg chef on duty, but he would wander in late every single day and spend twenty minutes setting up rather than serving the guests. About the only good thing they had in the breakfast area was the coffee maker.

Service was also a bit below standard. During check-in, the front desk could not easily explain why their total did not match the total that I had printed out from their website. After staying for ten days, we asked for a 30 minute late check out, but we were refused from Manager Chen; only explanation was that this was "against their policy". So we had to sit in the lobby for 30 minutes surrounded by our luggage while waiting for our hotel car to take us to the airport. You can be sure that our room was sitting empty upstairs and was not cleaned until 4:30pm that day, as it had been every day during our stay. So why make us wait in the lobby???

There were three washing machines on the top floor, which would have been convenient, but the water to these machines was cut off when we tried to use them. Calls to the front desk about this were fruitless.

In summary, ok-ish hardware, very bad software, i.e. bad management.

Stayed 2 nights with a tour group. 2 mins to MRT station with shops nearby.
Comfortable and clean. No complain on the room.
But if you are in Taipei for a shopping trip, this is not the ideal hotel as it is far from Ximenting and major shopping areas.

I have stayed here a few times now for business. The rooms are clean and tidy, MRT is 2 minutes walk away, and some good places to eat within 5 minutes. Breakfast is ok, with fair variety for all. Plenty of shops nearby. Worth considering

Stayed there for 7 days. It is a decent hotel without much facilities to talk about.
The location is ok, near MRT station and definitely enough shops and restaurants around the area.
The room is clean and well maintained. The breakfast in the hotel is average. This place is good for business trip or short stay.

Stayed only 1 night. The interior of the room appears to be quite well maintained. Bed was comfortable. Can't say much about location cos it was only an overnight stay. Room and bathroom were very clean.

Older hotel that's been refurbished a bit. It's all very average. The wifi is free, but the throughput sucks and is worthless for Skyping home. There is wired Internet at the room's desk that's a bit more stable, but sometimes Skype struggled with that connection, too. There is breakfast offered in the morning, but the hot items are lukewarm and overall it's not that good. There are several restaurants within walking distance. We had dinner at Jolly, a microbrewery that serves Thai food, a couple of nights and enjoyed it. There are some Western options across the street that we didn't try. The hotel gives you a "free" drink coupon for its lobby bar. The coupon is worth Taiwan 150, which is enough to buy a bottle of Taiwan Beer and not much else, but you have to pay the tax in cash. If you order anything else, you pay the difference plus tax. Maybe that's why the bar was always empty.

Just returned from a week's stay in a deluxe suite. Hotel is located in Neihu and was chosen because of proximity to the Taipei Exhibition Ctr. Although it is not located in the city, the MRT (Huzhou station) is about 5 min walk away and there is no lack of cabs. 7-11s, a couple of great bakeries (Hogan's), eateries, Post Office, are within 10 min walking distance. Hotel is quiet even though the building is near the MRT track and at a busy road junction. Guest room is well stocked and cleaned daily. On the roof level, there is a simple gym area as well as a laundry corner with washing machines and dryers (complimentary) where you can get your washing cleaned. Unfortunately no pool nor spa within the property though. The room stay cost was however pricier than usual (as in all other hotels) as there was a major exhibition in the city. Otherwise, it was overall a decent, comfortable stay and being in this location also allowed us to experience staying in the suburban side of a beautiful city. We booked a half day tour to Jiufen from the hotel - convenient and easy. Plenty of reasonably-priced eats in Taipei and the people are polite and thoughtful.
