“Good location and service. A bit gloomy interior”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2013

The hotel is located within walking distance of our office and that is its biggest advantage. The rooms are pretty big and there is no room for major complaint. It was a bit inconvenient though not to have no international power plug next to the bed. Also the breakfast room looked a bit dreary in the morning. I somehow don't feel like eating in a room with dark interiors and yellow lighting. Also, salt and pepper are not on the breakfast table by default, you have to ask for it and surprisingly they don't serve coffee on the table. You have to go and push the buttons of a machine yourself. That said, the staff is very very friendly and kind of compensates for all the shortcomings.

Room Tip: If you are a non-smoker, do not take a smoking room. The tobacco smell is overpowering. You think yo...

I booked an executive room for this trip. At check-in I requested a slightly-late check out at 2:00pm which was outright rejected by the guest service agent, and I had to have senior manager to resolve. Judging from that the hotel may not be business friendly, and they seem to have a lot of new staff. The decor of the hotel and the guest room used to be modern, you can see from the material it was slightly aged. TV channels were limited. WIFI speed was alright, but would be disconnected when idle, say for 10 mins. Also cafe was not covered by WIFI. There were some smell in the bathroom and the hair dyer power cord was too short, had to really 'bend over' every morning. In general, the hotel might have to work a bit harder in both software and hardware area to attract and retain business travellers, as they are pricing their executive rooms like a top tier business hotel and service levels will have to stay at par with the competition.

The rooms have a really good size, same for the bathroom. You have a bathtube and a shower. I even got a room with a view on Taipei 101. The rooms are very clean. The staff is welcoming and helpful. The spa overs relaxing wellness programs and a big pool.

We stayed at the hotel for 5 nights in a corner deluxe room. The room and toilet are very spacious. The 101 building can be seen from the toilet window but no view from the room. The hotel is next to a highway but we could hardly hear much noise. A little noise from other rooms when doors were closed but nothing serious. Staff were friendly and helpful. Housekeeping was good to help with our requests and very friendly. The hotel is around 10 mins away from the MRT. And it is within walkable distance from a famous street for food. There is a night market nearby and very cheap to get there by taxi. With our pleasant stay, there are some areas the hotel can improve.

Firstly, the sofas in the room were dirty and one of them had a big burn mark on it. Not nice at all.

Secondly, The shower head in the toilet was broken that we could not hang the shower head on the wall to shower.

Thirdly, the shower screen door was not able to fully closed. So we had to shower very carefully not to leak any water out to wet the floor. The shower area was moulded.

Fourthly, we did not check carefully the cleanliness of the room. But it was very clear that the desk was full of dusk.

Lastly, we shopped from a shop during our stay and the shop helped us to deliver our shopping to hotel via courier the next day. We went to the reception to consult for the parcel status when we returned to the hotel at night the next day. The reception told us they did not receive anything for our room after the checking. But we found a note in our room when we opened the door for the parcel collection from the reception. So we had to go back to the reception with the note for the parcel. The parcel was just right behind the reception desk. It is not serious at all so we did not complain. But it could be managed a little better.

We also tried the Chinese restaurant on the last day after check out because of the famous celebrity chief chef (we saw him in the lobby one night). The restaurant serves cantonese yum cha dim sums. Not as nice as we would expect and the price is not cheap. Maybe we have higher standard than others as we are Cantonese. Maybe we shouldn't try cantonese food in Taiwan so it is really our fault. The service in the restuarnt was really good though.

Generally we had a very nice stay in the hotel with minor issues. We did not report to the hotel and request for room change. But some of the points mentioned above can be easily resolved. If so, this hotel is perfect. I think I will stay in this hotel next time to Taipei.

The hotel rate is average, the rooms are big and the facilities are good. I like it as this hotel is small, not very small but not big that there won't be too many people here(Specially a whole group, they are usually so noisy) The service is only ok and the breakfast can be improved.

Room Tip: The 7th floor is "Ladies floor" or sth, I can't really remember the name. they provide...

Location:
Many food stalls across the street & nearby, including a delicious crispy chicken snack (mind the queueing!).
Room :
Clean and large. Ours can occupy 4 persons : 2 queen beds and everything for 4 in the room/ bathroom. Comfy beds & pillows.
Bathroom :
There's a window (a 2-way-mirror window) in the bathroom, and as we arrived that night we thought it was a mirror, not a window, because it's darker outside so what we saw on the 'window' was the reflection of the inner part,so we saw it as a 'mirror'. Being curious because there was a curtain, I checked it and found out that it was not a mirror, but a window, overlooking the outside of the hotel. Just can't figure out what their intention putting such a window camouflaging as a mirror, in the bathroom !! Really weird design, and poor !
Other thing about the bathroom is just fine, it's a 4-star standard with bathtub and amenities including shaving and toothbrush kit.
Internet connection: no wifi in room, and also failed to connect at the lobby.
Breakfast:
Over-crowded restaurant with many chinese mainland tourists. Don't wait to get seated, just search and take your own! Menus are very limited selection, cold and tasteless chinese food. But don't worry, you can buy crazy delicious instant noodle at 7/11 nearby with only NTD 53...problem solved :))

Location is not too bed. 10 min from MRT by walk. Or 10 min from Taipei station by Taxi (Cost around NTD 130). Close to U-bike rental station. In the evening, try local way which rode U-bike Traveling around even to Taipei 101. Quite interesting! Room is very clean and nice view.
