“Worth a visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 17, 2012

Taking the MRT from Taipei City Hall to Ximen is pretty easy (Bannan Line). There's a lot of shopping (mid-priced shopping, lol) and again, a lot to eat. At night, it looks like NY Times Square (there's a movie theatre too). If you venture out a little bit, you'll find the BEST beef noodle soup! There'a always a line (and there's two stories!). Enjoy!

“Place for shopaholic and food lovers.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 17, 2012

I went here at night. It is crowded as it is one of the best shopping district in Taipei. Food are amazing here. You might want to try the Ah Zhong noodles right there. You can travel from your hotel to here by rapid transit and buses. All you need to do is shop, shop and shop!!! A must for shopaholics and food lovers. :)

“Very lively area”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 13, 2012

Unlike usual night market, though crowded, there's still plenty of room to walk around & explore the area. Street performance added extra spice...very invigorating.

“Feels like night market”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 12, 2012

Nice place for youngsters to visit since there are many small shops selling accessories, shoes, and clothes that are targeted for the young.

“Vibrant area”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2012

Taipei is excellent for cheap eats and shopping and Ximending is no exception! I was lucky enough to stay at a hotel in the area and loved every moment of it! The vibe is very young & trendy and it only gets better at night...they are a bunch of night owls here! Don't even bother shopping in the AM as the shops don't even open until lunch/noon time. Also be sure to check out the night market outside Ximen Station, they sell really cool stuff (even better than the actual night market junk they have on sale at Shilin), and for the adventurous, try the street food! There are also plenty of street performers and live music, which I could hear all the way from my hotel room!
