“Excellent customer service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2013

We were pleasantly surprised to see a staff coming out to welcome us as we stepped out of the cab. Overall, we were satisfied with the service provided by the hotel to make our stay memorable especially helping us to arrange a cab to bring us to see plum blossoms.

Breakfast was served in Western style but we also got to taste some Tainan local delights.

The hotel is located near interesting eateries and within walking distrance to some Tainan attractions. Local bus stop is nearby and it's a short distance bus ride to Anping Old street.

The room that we stayed is small but cozy. Excellent WIFI connection in room too. However, the aircon is centrally controlled so they offered to provide extra blanket when we feedbacked that the room was a bit too cold. We were also not used to the open concept of the toilet and bathroom with only a glass door.

The room is clean, the receptionist is very considerate. They will let you easily touch the Tainan.

One of the most unique small hotels we have come accross. Modern Classic, delightful individualized themes in each room with a definite Japanese influence. Excellent traditional Taiwanese service and caring friendly staff who take great pride in what they offer.
A hidden gem in the bustling city of Tainan.

Room Tip: Bathroom privacy is minimal. So if your prudish you may want to choose a room where the bathroom is...

Funky design and helpful staff, free wifi / coffee / tea in cool common areas. Staff keen to show you where and what to see in the area (temples/night markets/bars etc). Good location for most of the sights too. Rooms were tastefully and interestingly decorated. Recommended.

This hotel emphasises creativity in design: it mixes the old and the new and the end result is refreshing. All rooms are unique, and the furnishings are superb. You just have to look at every room to admire its character. The rooms are not very big, and you should not expect any twin-beds (most are queen sized). The hotel is right in the middle of Tainan, but not near the train station. Taxi drivers do not always know the hotel, because it does not look like one. The hotel is near an old market (no longer in use), and is close to the night-scene pubs. The staff here are incredibly friendly and helpful. They are eager to please or answer questions even if their English is not very good (at least one staff can speak English). Breakfast here is individually served, and is hearty (a 4 course meal that varies daily). Most of the guests who stay here are young people. There are not many rooms here, so if you do not like tour groups, this is the place to stay.

Room Tip: All rooms are different, and you probably cannot select any -- as the rooms are allocated based on a...

This ultra chic boutique hotel in Tainan is a true find. The thoughtful design of the common areas and themed guest rooms add both comfort and a hint of luxury to an otherwise affordable stay. Staff is beyond friendly and helpful. Breakfast was abundant and some of the best food we've had in Taiwan. The attention to detail, overall service and location (near the main cluster of temples and sights, about a 20 minute walk west of the train station) of JJ-W are hard to beat. I'm confident this is one of the best hotels in Tainan, as well as a true bang for your buck.

It is a creative hotel. I'm glad that there is such a hotel in Tainan. It's unique. And the service is great. If you're going to Tainan, you really should try it!

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The JJ-W Hotel is a new life of the old Jia Jia Hotel near the historic West Market in Tainan, thus its name, which stands for both the new and the old Jia Jia, representing a close relationship between each other. The old Jia Jia Hotel was constructed in the 1970s, designed by the very first licensed female architect, Hsiu-Lian Wang. It can be considered a meaningful emblem of Taiwan’s progress toward a multi-cultural society that shows equal respect to different genders. Unfortunately, this meaningful emblem could not survive the cruel market competition, the old Jia Jia’s reputation and business fading. ... more   less
