My first trekking experience in Nepal. Poon hill trek is definitely a great start. The circuit was completed in just 5 days. We reached Ghorepani ie the foot of Poon Hill at the end of day 2. At 5am on the 3rd day, we hiked up to the summit of Poon Hill and reached in an hour - at our slow pace. The air was thin so it was a challenge going up although there was no giddiness. Only bring essentials and cut out all excess baggage. Breakfast is after we descend from Poon Hill. Less weight, easier climb.Once u reach, you will forget the hardship because the magnificent views will totally mesmerized you! It's worth the effort but there is no guarantee of a clear sunrise. Ours was not the best but we still stood in awe of the majestic snow capped mountains. Cold at the peak. You will need a decent camera to capture good pictures perhaps a SLR. Our compact digital camera did not do justice to the views. We found that the mountains are compromised in the photo whenever there's a human object in it. Poon Hill trek has inspired us to do more And our next target will probably be closer to ABC!
