“Perfect Place to rejuvenate after Trekking”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2013

We had a delightful 2 days at this resort after completing The Gorepani-poon Hill Trek.
The grounds are lovely, flowers, pool area beautiful( though pool was not heated and cold for a anything beyond a dip)
Great to be away from hustle bustle of the Lake District.
The staff were terrific, food delicious, massage awesome, room beautifully appointed with treats awaiting us on arrival)
Really a 5 star experience.

Beautiful gardens and amazing grounds are a big plus point but the best is still the views of the mountains even from the balcony of the rooms. Nice touches in the rooms with Newari artefacts add to a very rustic feel. The decor is very good and the turn down service comes with fresh flowers from their gardens made into a liitle corsage. The flowers are used everywhere- even on the breakfast tables. There is a beautiful Shiv temple in the grounds also. Even though it is away from lakeside it is not a problem as the hotel provides a shuttle service.
Breakfast is really good and served with great attention to guests requirements. Only hitch is the showers have poor water pressure and that they have something called a warm A/C and cold A/C and our rooms were warm enough in March for us to request for fans to be brought in.
Other than that no complaints. The views of Machapuchre make up for all the shortcomings!

Room Tip: Ask for the best view of the mountains

Lovely bungalow style rooms in pretty gardens. Clean rooms, nice gardens and pool. Long way from lake area down a long narrow road. Rooms were clean and comfortable with outisde seating area overlookibg gardens. The staff were helpful and friendly. Breafast was buffet style wit lots of quality options including feshly cooked eggs of all styles. Restaurant was good but drinks were very pricey.

It was a real pleasure to be in Shangr-la.. A true Shangri-la in itself. With the view of Mountains and 15 mins from the Fewa Lake it is ideal place to be in. Foods were great, Hospitality was wonderful and the Ambience was cool. To add to all swimming pool was great place to relax with mountain view. Wonderful staffs to help you all the time

After a week's trek, this hotel provided a relaxing, mostly clean and friendly place to recoup. The grounds are beautiful, the buffets attractive and the rooms well serviced. The staff is cheery and helpful. Nothing is perfect -the bathtub needed a service call and drain clean before it would drain water speedily and ordering a la carte in the dining room competing with buffet-time dinner and a convention meant a long wait, but at least we were warned.

A friend and I stayed here for a night before our trek and three nights on our return. We found it comfortable and with excellent service. Breakfasts were from an extensive buffet in the dining room with views to the terrace and pool and mountains beyond. We ate in on two nights... one evening it was a buffet style service... (usually this happens when there are groups in it seems.) On the other night it was from the a la carte menu... less people in.Staff were helpful and friendly. Wifi had to be paid for... but worked well... electricity went off a couple of times but generator kicked in very quickly.Rooms very comfortable and we slept well and enjoyed our hot showers after our trek! Pool too cool for swimming at this time of year... but would like to be able to be able to make use of this on a future visit?? ... whenever that may be! Gardens lovely...and one of the big traditional swings to enjoy! We used the mini bus service to the Lakesdie in Pohara... very useful; taxis easy to use at other times. If you like to walk to local amenities shops etc you possibly need a hotel closer to the Lakeside in Pokhara.

Room Tip: Ask for room with a good view of Machupuchare, (Fishtail Mountain) wonderful for sunrise and sunset...
