“a haven”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 30, 2012

You may have heard lots of tales about dodgy kitchens in Nepal and meat worries. My advice is to go straight to Bistro Carolines in Pokhara and simply feast. The setting and food is superb and no worries what you eat. The Mousaka was so good we had it twice. The welcome from the owner who used to live in Cockermouth UK (as we do) was so good after 3 weeks treking. I guarantee you will not be disappointed

“A Top Quality Gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 29, 2012

At the end of a recent 3 week visit to Nepal I happened upon this restaurant. It was head and shoulders above anything else I encountered during the trip. The food was top quality, especially the chicken ballentine. The service was excellent, the staff and owners were so friendly. The spotless kitchen is on open view to the dinner who is free to have a good look and witness the cooking in progress. The experience of eating and enjoying an evening at this place is one I will not foget. I had the confidence in the quality and preperation of the food as I would have in a good western restaurant but at the same time it still retained an authentic Nepalese feel to it.

“Surprising and outstanding”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 27, 2012 via mobile

Bistro Caroline is one of the best restaurants in Pokhara. My other favorites are Moondance and a relatively new place called Jiva. I have been to Nepal over 12 times and know Pokhara quite well.

“Best restaurant and coffee place in town”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2012

Caroline deserves a five in the context of Pokhara, since it has by far the best food in the city. The Malaysian cuisine is delicious (and some dishes can be specially ordered ahead of time if they're not on the menu). The French appetizers were great. The service, as indicated in all previous reviews, was very good. The best part about Caroline is that it's not only a nice dinner place, but also a great place to lounge around in the afternoon. Our favorite spot was the hammock in the garden. Great cakes, pies and excellent coffee. We highly recommend it.

“The best food we had in Nepal”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2012

We had dinner there - twice. We enjoyed the dishes so much we ordered almost the same things the second time around. Everything was amazing: the Malaysian Springrolls, the roasted duck with pineapple, the Malaysian noodles with curry and seafood, the duck salad... yum!!
The only thing that wasn't great was the lemon pie. I'd skip that :).
If you enjoy quality food - this is the place to go. The sign on the street is not very noticable. but it's across from "Once Upon A Time". Just look for hte sign and walk down the path towards the lake (in between stores).
