“Reasonably priced restful place.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 17, 2013

Stayed for 5 days in the extension wing. Rooms are identical as in the main wing, spacious and having TV and air conditioner. Rooms have 2 sets of plug points (one set powered by hotel's own backup generator).Toilets and rooms are clean. During the daily power cuts, the rooms would still have emergency lights.

Hotel offers different rates for staying depending on whether you wish to include breakfast with the stay or not. We chose to not include breakfast and have the option of eating at any place we liked. We did eat at the hotel restaurant too on some of the days and it was not bad at all.

Our favorite eating joint was a Marwadi restaurant down the street. There are plenty of choices of food close to the hotel.

Overall a peaceful and very functional accommodation at Pokhara. I will surely stay at this place the next time I visit Pokhara.

Room Tip: Hotel does not have elevator. So, choosing room on first floor on either wing would be a good choice...

Hotel is a stone throw away from Phewa Lake and hotel is accessible to shops selling trekking equipment at a cheap price. There is a spa opposite the hotel and there are also pubs and cafe nearby.

Free wi-fi is available at the lobby area. Hotel staff are friendly and provide good service. Room is spacious and clean with air con and TV available. Candle are also provided to tide you thru the period of darkness during the daily electric cut.

The hotel restaurant also serves good food at a cheap price.

Hotel Meera, a good hotel which you would not want to miss.

Stayed at Hotel Meera for 2nights at the main wing. Good location, just across the street is like a mini shopping street where you can find supermarket, trekking shops, restaurants and some travel agents. The phewa lake is about 7-10mins walk from the hotel. There are plenty of boat rentals, about 275rps for an hour without a boatman.

There is no elevator in the hotel. Room is very basic, but clean. Wifi is free, but only available in the lobby. The airconditioner comes with the heated function, but unless you are next to it, it doesnt really make a difference to the room coldness. The hotel does ensure that electricity runs in the evening.

The restaurant staff were all very polite and courteous. Food is good, but comes in very big portion. It will be good to order just 1 portion and share if you are not feeling very hungry.

Will be good to provide a radiator in the room for the guests, esp in winter!

When I am in Pokhara I generally stay here, it is centrally located and inexpensive, it helps that many of my colleagues served with the owner and I do get treated well. But the staff are really friendly and helpful. I have been bitten by Mossies in Pokhara so a bug buster of some sort should be used there are two sets of plugs in most rooms those on the rather unreliable grid and one on the Hotel power system there is normally an emergency light but you do need to check it before the power fails, which it will, carry a torch wind up are best as Nepali batteries are not great. Food in the restaurant is good breakfast good and beer (Ghurka) is not to expensive. Not a western starred hotel but good for the main strip in Pokhara. The alternative used to be staying way out in the sticks by the Airport and paying for taxi's

Room Tip: There are two buildings I prefer the one a little down the side street away from the hustle and bust...

Just came back from a wonderful time at Pokhara (Nov 2012). Stayed at Hotel Meera 2 of the days.
Room was nice and hotel staffs were friendly. We had blackouts briefly while staying there so having your torches (esp when you go to the loo) by your side was useful.
Our family ate at the restaurant for dinner. Food was good. However on the second night, there was some confusion and I was asked to pay 1025 rupees for some drinks we consumed. When we checked the receipt later while walking back to our room, we were surprised to see it was only 125 rupee charged for a coke while the rest would be covered under our tour package by our guide.. We walked back to the restaurant immediately but the restaurant staff denied our payment of 1025 (which my sister witnessed me doing it). We saw the staff having his wallet opened and we suspected he pocketed the difference. We told our guide the next day and he was however told that the restaurant staff had returned us 900 rupees. It wasnt a lot of money but it was quite blatant and shameless that they will do such things to fleece unsuspecting tourists. My advice is to check the receipts carefully before making payments and do be careful that while the staffs there may be nice, there are some who are also out to fleece you unaware.

I stayed there on 2 nights, the first was before my trek and the 2nd after. The hotel is split on two sides of the side street, one facing the main road where the hotel's restaurant is and the other which we were staying is located on the other side of a different building. The hotel's located very near the main street where you can find aplenty of restaurants, coffehouses, bars and outdoor shops essential for our hike!

The condition of the room is basic and had hot water but took a real long time to warm up. My advice would be to leave the tap on for a little longer if you can't take the cold. The view from my 4th floor room had a splendid view of Machapuchare 'fish tail' in the morning with the blessings of the clear skies. Although the view was much fantastic at the top of Poon Hill :)

Our 2nd night we spent at the same hotel, we requested to be shifted down to the first floor to spare our strained calves from more climbing. The first floor room toilets were facing the garden and there wasn't much privacy as people walking by would be able to see. It didn't help that the curtain was inadequately long to cover the entire window.

The receptionists and the hotel staffs were welcoming and we didn't have any complains. The restaurant's western breakfast was simple and we had our fill on both mornings we stayed there. Wifi is available but unable to connect from the rooms. Overall it was above our expectations and was glad to have our guides pick this as our accommodation.

Room Tip: Inner wing of Hotel Meera: Pick rooms on the higher floors to get a great morning view of Machapucha...

If you want enjoy the night activities in Pokhara. You must stay at Lake Side. And HoteL Meera not only very close to the Fewa Lake also in the middle of Lake Side street. It is safe. You will see fellow tourists wandering around in the middle of the safe. You can try Club Amsterdam right across the street. Where you can enjoy a few drinks with live rock band singing oldies. Food is good. I liked their breakfast (buffet) arrangement. Dinner was good too (we didn't have lunch there) but western cousines tastes better than sub continentals. Price is high (aimed to westerners). Even a bottle of water will cost USD 1 (80 nepali rupees). You can buy the same bottle from else where only for 20 nepali rs!!!! But Nepal is full with western tourist. So its understable. If I go back to Pokhara, I would certainly stay there again.

Room Tip: Don't take the main road side rooms. They can get noizy.
