“Average Guesthouse but good value for the price.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2013 via mobile

we stayed here for three nights. book on agoda as it currently offers a cheaper rate.

we paid 4 GBP per night for a double room (basic) with shared bathroom. The room was ok for the price.

They offer free airport pick up if you book two or more nights with them which is great. considering the journey from the airport took about 30 mins by car with very busy roads. be careful with the guy that holds up your name card at the airport. The pick up is free yet they still ask for tips for doing absolutly nothing.

The guesthouse staff on the other hand are very friendly and are eager to help.

if your budgeting then for 4 pounds a night you cant go wrong by staying here.

We enjoyed our stay here. We found the staff helpful and hotel amenities well suited to our budget and tastes. It was great to be met at the airport and be able to take a hot shower after the long flight despite the cloudy weather (Many showers are heated with solar systems in Nepal) It is located on the North End of Thamel so is a bit away from the huh bub on a quiet street, but not too far away. Staff was very helpful arranging for onward transport and dealing with lost luggage. We plan to stay there next time we are in Kathmandu.

Room Tip: Front rooms seem pretty nice.

Very good backpacker guest house. Stayed a couple times during our visit in Nepal. Good roof top area. Staff was very helpful and kind. Had a couple of roaches, but no big deal for Kathmandu's cleanliness. Picked up from airport on time and easily. Guest house in convenient location.

Room Tip: King deluxe for $15, decent choice with attached toilet.

This is one of the best place to stay in Thamel if you like a place away from honking noise.
There is a nice rooftop garden cafe/view.
Clean room with basic amenities just a short walk to the happening area of Thamel.
Very helpful and friendly staffs.
Stayed there for a 5 nights in Mac 2012, will consider to stay there again in the future.

Room Tip: For budget travellers, they have a basic single room with a single bed and a wardrobe, shared toilet...

I stayed here 3 times during September. The staff were friendly enough and the roof top was a great place to have breakfast. Location in Thamel is not too bad either - on a side street and not too noisy. The room quality however varied - in my last stay there were cockroaches in my room.

The biggest advantage of staying here is the free airport pick up. Be careful though, when you meet the rep. at the airport he may get someone to carry your bags - it is a scam to get you to give a tip. When I arrived the car was very close and despite that, he demanded a £5 tip! There is no need to have someone carry your bags nor to give a tip.

If you stay here, check your bill carefully - on all my 3 stays here - the bill was wrong and they tried to charge me too much.

After my 3rd stay here I tried other hotels in Kathmandu and found that you could get better value elsewhere.

During our month travel in Nepal we returned 3 times to Kathmandu, also trying other Guesthouses we always came back to Annapurna Guesthouse as it was the best of all we tried.
It has a beautiful roof terrace which makes you feel like sitting in your garden. The owner family is very friendly and always there for you. Rooms are relatively big and available in all varietions, 1-3 people, with or without private bath. The guesthouse is right in the middle of Thamel, however in a small side street so noises wont bother you too much.

Overall it feels like a home away from home.

We booked via email. I've learned now that it's better not to and check the rooms when you're there.
Airport pickup was convenient, that's why we chose AGH.

The room was horrible, dirty beds and bathroom. There was à window between our bathroom and the one next to it and people came watching while we were taking a shower! It were nepali, so I even think it was the hotel staff.
I don't understand how people can write good reviews about it, or they must have different types of rooms (but we paid the highest price).

At night the cockroaches came out! Horrible! We had to sleep with the lights on. Or didn't sleep actually...

Staff was friendly, food was good, but don't book here! There are lots of guesthouses that are very decent at lower prices.
