Stayed there with friends who had looked the address up over the internet.
What I really liked about this hotel:
The location, super close to Thamel (the noisy, overcrowded touristic district) but far enough to be a little quieter.
The decoration is magnificient: Huge black stone buddha statue at the entrance, typical nepali paintings (called tankas apparently), masks and wood carvings everywhere. Very beautiful.
The breakfast, good, and served in the garden wich is as well decorated as the rest of the hotel.
The free airport pick-up.
The roof-top view.
What I didn't like about the place: The room
An incredible contrast with the rest of the hotel: Very poorly lit, sad looking colors and furnitures and freezing cold. At the moment, temperatures are pretty cold, specially at night, in Kathmandu (as low as 2,2 °C at night minimum recorded, according to the local newspaper). Well the bathroom has no window, just a few small holes in the wall,(the size of the cup part of a tablespoon,) to let some light...and noise....and cold air in. And nothing to cover them up. And the water was barely warm most of the time.
The internet was working most of the time...but very slowly.
The only friendly staff around were the maids. The other staff, in direct contact with the customers were unsmiling at all time.
The manager was ok, but very pushy, trying to get you buy whatever trip he had to sell.
It actually felt like the opposite of the guest-houses we stayed in, were people were super nice and friendly but the decoration was less rich and a little clumsier.
