I know this review is almost a year late, but I suppose it's better late than never! My husband and I stayed at the International Guest House prior to and after our trek in the Everest region. We were greeted at the airport by the hotel staff and were brought directly to the hotel, which saved us a lot of haggling for a taxi at the airport. The room we stayed in was large, which was important as we had lots of trekking gear with us. The noise came mainly from children running around the hotel, and some traffic that went through the front of the hotel. It was winter, and the rooms were not heated. But he manager gave us an electric heater free of charge, and there was plenty of hot water if you are patient to wait for the water to heat up. The room is cleaned every day, and is generally spotless, although the dust of Kathmandu does seem to fly in no matter how you shut the window. Even when there were power cuts, our hotel was brightly lit as they had their own generator. We felt very secure in the hotel as it was guarded throughout the night. The hotel also agreed to keep our luggage until we returned from the trek. The breakfast was more than adequate, and was included in our tariff. The hotel is located just off from Thamel, something you'll appreciate if you're not one for the music blaring from the many restaurants there. But it's less than 5 minutes' walk to the food and shopping at Thamel, so it's very convenient. We have such good memories of the place, and even though we're frequent visitors to Kathmandu, this seems to be the best value so far.
