“Very Satisfied”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2013

Just back from a few weeks in Nepal and Tibet. Stayed at the Kathmandu Eco Hotel for about a week and really feel compelled to say how much I enjoyed the stay. Not only is the hotel well located in the heart and soul of Kathmandu, but the hotel staff was so friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious, clean, cool, relatively quiet and comfortable. The restaurant was a nice surprise. The food was excellent. And, like the hotel itself, very reasonable. Highly recommended!

Room Tip: No elevator so take that into consideration if you end up with a room on a higher floor.

Excellent value for money. All major sights close by. Very centrally situated. Spacious, airy rooms. Staff all very friendly and willing to go the extra mile to lay on transport, guides, day trips, mountain flights, early wake up calls, room service, collection and drop-off to the airport, and the manager even took me shopping for a genuine khukuri gurkha knife so that I'd get a fair deal. I left an envelope for a friend to collect later and they held it safely for me. I did find a front-facing room a bit noisy because of a local backpackers' place that played loud music until midnight every night. A kettle in the room would've been helpful and there wasn't always hot water in the shower. But I'd highly recommend this hotel for good value, excellent and over-and-above service, friendly, helpful staff and everything within walking distance.

Room Tip: Ask for a back-facing room for a quieter sleep.

We stayed continuously at this Hotel for about eight days. It was a rewarding experience. Centrally located in the Thamel area, the Hotel allowed easy access to all amenities: restaurants, shopping, nightlife and site seeing.
Ram, Rajendra and Sarita made us feel like family – an amiable bunch. They took care of all our touristy needs including cabs and rickshaws and ensured we weren’t ripped off by the over zealous merchants. The staff could not be better.
The dining room was clean and the waiters - Sunil and others- a cheerful group. A curious blend of east and west, the food was tasty and well-presented. The kitchen was open to public scrutiny. The staff immaculately attired and food sanitation levels good.
Spacious, adequately furnished, clean and comfortable were the rooms. Because it was still cool the rooms were well heated. A portable heater was provided, should we need more heat. We enjoyed unlimited interrupted access to the internet. Although there is an intermittent power supply from the main grid, we never experienced difficulties as the backup generator kept us comfortable. The en suite was better than we expected. However, the washroom water although somewhat discolored but comfortably warm.
Considering all things this was a rewarding experience. Unreservedly recommended.

I stayed in Eco Hotel three different nights. I felt I am home with my family because of the caring staff who shows respect and always ready to help. It was so refreshing to start the day with a smile from the receptionist, the waiter, the security, the supervisor, the cleaner.... and everyone else. Warm environment and good service.
The location is strategic in the middle of Thame street where you have access to all shops and restaurants, few minutes away from the bus station...
If I will have the chance to visit Nepal one more time I will stay at Kathmandu Eco Hotel for sure.

Room Tip: Rooms in the fifth floor have balcony. If you are going in trekking, go for the highest before trek...

The service in this hotel is better than in a 5-star hotel. The location is in the center of thamel close to shops, restaurants etc. Very good value for price! I would definitely recommend this hotel to everyone who wants a hotel where they can feel safe and at home.

Room Tip: the top floor room is absolutely beautiful!!!!!
