“Great Temple”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2013

One of the important Hindu Temple to visit. Its one of the main attraction for Hindus (Indians) to visit Kathmandu. We had good darshan of the main deity from all the 4 different directions. There are some monkeys around inside, so please watch out if you carry some eatables in hand.

“Too Crowded,Tourist trap”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2013

Not worth it as the temple is too crowded and not properly maintained considering it is a world heritage site.

“Hindus Only!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2013

Only Hindus are allowed to enter and they are very strict with the no photography rule. I'm a Hindu and the only thing that left me dissatisfied was the lack of any information around the temple at all. Also, don't bow your heads to get blessings from everyone who offers it as usually, they are more interested in ripping you of your money. By the side, there are 125 small lingas which is nice. Also, there is a big linga served by rather young priest-clad youths. They insisted on doing a special puja for the more "affluent-looking" tourists and demanded 5000rupees per person thereafter. Just try not to get your Pashupathinath experience ruined by such happenings.

“Do not miss coming here”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2013

This is the Varanasi of Nepal. It is a little strange watching a funeral and cremation as a tourist attraction, but if you take it as something to expand your mind. Funerals here are very public and it is an interesting contemplation of the meaning of life. Provided you are not squirming, it is a really interesting place to visit. There are many monkeys here too, and so that adds to the atmosphere. Watch out for hawkers, some can be a little too eager to sell, and the sadhus are happy to take a photo but for a price. Take some small currencies with you for these events and for the beggars that are found on the path up the hill to the deer park.

“Pashupati temple”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2013

A UNESCO WORLD heritage a must visit for all hindus,I from was there with my wife 21 November to 28 November 2013,but what annoyed us was the guide who tells us what we need to do
( we did not ask for the guide in the first place} the moment we left our van ,this guide followed us ,we were unaware we have to pay for his service until we were about to leave,so those who intend to visit this temple ,do not allow any guide to follow u,if they insist just tell them this is not your first visit.from my observation ,this only happens to foreigners, please be aware ,dont let this guide fleece you.
