“A big disappointment, it looks like a Hyatt, but a 3 stars one”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2012

When I arrived I was impressed with the lobby. Unfortunately, the spell was broken immediately after opening the door of the room, which lookd like a 3 stars hotel. The bed wasn't good, the TV was an old one that I wouldn't expect to see in a Hyatt. The service was poor. The staff has lots to learn. I took a tour and I asked for a bottle of water before leaving and they didn't have any. They called someone twice to get one and in the end I had to go back to my room to take the one from the mini bar. The buffet was terrible. Basic food and people had to queue to get food, because there was nobody around to check if the containers were empty. This happened the two nights I stayed there. It was quite smoky also, their extraction system was deficient.
The sa was another big disappointment. It was turned off and there was nobdy around to help, so I had to getdresed again and go and ask for them to turn on the steam bath. The hygiene was quite deficient, since they had dirty towels on the floor and the wood from the showers was rotten in several parts. No maintenance had been done, which is unacceptable for a 5 star hotel, but I insist, just the lobby belongs to a 5 stars, all the rest is just 3. The location is also close only to the main Buddist stuppa, but far from most of the other attractions, so keed that in mind.
I am a Gold Hyatt member, but I would never go back to that place, for the same price I would rather try something different.

Room Tip: Choose one in another hotel...

I went for work again and started liking Hyatt properties a lot. This place offered lots of space for lesuire walk. The hotel itself looks like one huge palace and modern emnities inside. I liked the cosmetics used here, they were very much appropriate. The pool side view is fantastic. I enjoyed the walk toward Stupa which goes just from the rear gate of the hotel. The walk took us from between the local houses and we could see the culture. Overall the stay was amazing only if you minus the pollution.

The hotel is located little bit out of the city, but that makes up for the quiet environment. Sprawling campus and a huge swimming pool. Nice view at the sky a night while I was still enjoying the late evening party. nice choice of restaurants, however, the bar took the last order at about 11 pm! Priced little on the higher side, it makes up for all the facilities inside.

Room Tip: Room at the higher floors would give good view of the valley.

I stayed at the Hyatt Kathmandu for 3 nights in October 2012. We were upgraded to the Regency Club Level which was wonderful. The only glitch was the time it took to check in was extremely long and the room keys did not work. The wifi was constantly on and off... We kept having to call and get a new password which got very frustrating.
Otherwise the staff was great and it was a beautiful property. I would stay again!

Room Tip: Regency club level was great! Rooms facing the Stupa are the best views.

Stayed here for 5 days during out trip to Kathmandu. It served as a base for our trekking expedition to Everest base camp. The hotel is beautifully maintained, decorated and serviced by the the helpful staff. The food and beverages in all of the restaurants and cafes are superb. The rooms are spacious, cool, clean and comfortable. The outdoor pool and jacuzzi area also offer a relaxing way to end the day and a break from the hustle and bustle outside the hotel.

Service level is good & the staff will go out of their way to suit their requirements, they'll prepare naan for you even after they stopped if you ask nicely:) & they will provide a late check out.

Hygiene level is not what you expect, you would actually see some dirt in the room around corners of bathtub, staff is actually turn towels around & not replace them...But anyone who's been to Kathmandu knows what to expect as a hygiene level.

Dining options in the hotel are OK, nothing too exceptional...

Pool is really nice & you can enjoy the view of the hotel from the pool & it's surrounded by greenery & small walking alleys.

The hotel does not have private taxis so all transport must be done using street taxis.
The biggest set back of the hotel is the location, it's far from thamel where most of the night life is, almost 30 min so it's kinda turn off to go back & forth between the 2 & at night nothing really happens at the hotel so it tends to be boring.

Room Tip: Most room overlook the pool & that's a nice view

This is Hyatt, and it does justice to its name. Beautiful architectural design, gives you feeling that you are staying in a palace. The staff are in par with the Hyatt name, and the reception area is simply majestic. Whether at night or morning this place will give you something to indulge to. The hotel was made with concept of palace, but also it have all the modern amenity of the time.

The room was cozy, neat and thoughfully decorated with a great bathroom area. All I can say is that it does justice to the name Hyatt.

Food from the restaurant The Cafe is exceptional, every bit of the food is made with precision and the quality that it deserve. It also caters food for both vegetarian and non vegetarian people, so it was great to have taste of both.
