I have visited this hotel recently for a workshop. The hall given was among the oldest in the hotel. It looked gloomy and dingy so was the shared bathroom near it (pics included)which was shocking as It is one of the oldest and the most prestigious hotel in Nepal. breakfast was buffet and tasty but not with a huge choices. few times before I have had their buffet breakfast which had enormous choices even buffalo milk, yak cheese, goat cheese and what not. I think this is due to the recession. Anyway the breakfast good.bakery items specially the cookies and Blackforest cake are awesome. We had buffet lunch also with Nepali and Indian food moslty and few continental items . The food was tasty. the ordered to cook pasta was really very tasty. The hotel lobby is very impressive with heavy furnitures that prove its oldness. the hotel decor was slightly changed and gradually it is gaining the contemporary look. One of the staff with a badminton rackat kind of deivce and a spray 'preying' the mosquitoes and other insects in the lobby was really amusing.[ though there were few mosquitoes flying in our hall]The hotel is spread over 11 acre of land though the location area is really maddening but once you enter the hotel it is like in the different world.
The service was so-so, not prompt. The concerned persons tried their best but......The staff ( I read his name something Prabin KC) assigned to look after us during the workshop was really very nice and smily guy. thanks to him. he did his job perfectly . I can not review about their room service as I did not use it same for their rooms. though their room seem to be very good and so was the ensuit bathroom. It won't be fair to write anything about that. In overall, I found, may be due to the recesion, its level is slightly down than my previous visits.
