“Excellent Service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2013

Excellent service at the hotel. Overall very friendly staff.
The travel desk was very responsive, and was able to very quickly suggest and organize trips for us. The room service actually went out of their way to accommodate us, and were very friendly.
Extremely fast check in and check out - even though we were checking in early and checking out late.
Breakfast spread was good - not as lavish as some of the other places, but good nonetheless.
Stayed in the room with the mountain view, and the little wait to get one was worth it to wake up to lush green mountains every morning.
Rooms were comfortable, decent loos, etc etc.
Wifi is not free - and is available for 1 hr (abt $10), 6hrs (abt $18) , 24 hrs and 6 days i think. it is easily accessible through the browser on your system. Each purchase is available for only one system.
Visit the casino with very low expectations, and don't expect it to be in line with other casinos you might have visited in other countries, and you'll be fine. Lots of slot machines. There are a few tables of blackjack, mini flush, roulette, etc. Did not see any poker tables. Lots of people around to take your order, but did not find any one to explain the game or point to available tables etc. Its a good place to kill a few hours, that's it.
We tried al Fresco which is in the hotel grounds, and the place was very nice - just right for a quiet dinner for two, but expensive (Dinner for 2 without alcohol = NPR 5000). Again, overall very friendly staff.
even though the hotel is off a busy street, you don't hear the noise within the grounds. the sight seeing places are not really close (except for shambhunath?) but it didn't really impact our plans.

Room Tip: Take the mountain view, even if you have to wait a bit for it.

The hotel is away from the city-center, but the well manicured lawns make up for that. The staff is very friendly and helpful with a personalized service. They have a fantastic Italian restaurant – Al Fresco, near the pool area. Also the Chinese restaurant - China Garden is good. The open porch / lobby-bar at the entrance with old leather chairs is very relaxing. The buffet breakfast in the morning is good, but can be better. Welcome drink was a disaster, should be totally avoided.

Earlier they used to have a city-shuttle on hourly basis, which they have stopped from the last 4/5years. The City-shuttle should be restarted as it is very convenient for the guests.
Stay in the renovated rooms only. The pillows need to be changed though.

Room Tip: take the renovated rooms on the higher floor...mountain facing.

this place is best to stay in an average budget, plus they have an casino attached, just make sure while having your deal with hotel you clarify everything in detail like they will offer you dinner buffet included but when u go u,ll see that it is in the casino area a very below average food, for sight seeing dey'll give you a matadore type van. so dont get duped with the price hv your deal in detail n in written!

Room Tip: front pool facing rooms

The Crowne Plaza Soaltee - a great hotel for Kathmandu.

We tried a few options in the city, this was the best. Not 5 stars, but a solid 4 I'd say. Restaurant is decent with a decent selection and quality of different foods. Shisha on the patio outside is nice and you get to watch all the guests arrive and depart. It took them about 30 minutes to prepare it though.

I like how the hotel is in its own gated compound. That's not always a good thing, but after spending a couple days navigating the craziness of Kathmandu, its a welcome retreat from the chaos of the rest of the city.

Beware taking a taxi to get back, there is another hotel named the 'Crowne Plaza' in the city, and it's not nearly as nice as this one. Our driver brought us to this other hotel first. He didn't think I was staying at the Crowne Plaza Soaltee... probably because I was dressed to blend in with the rest of the city.

Rooms are nice, a little outdated but that adds some charm to the property. Service was spotty when we were dressed casual to go outside exploring, but they perked right up when we got more formally dressed for dinner.

Overall its a good hotel, and good value for the price.

Staff are very friendly so that to me is already a bonus. The issue that I have is that the Elevators are so out-dated, the rooms are old fashioned and again out dated and the power is always going out so its just... a very creepy feeling. I feel like I'm in ''Tower of Terror'' when I come to this hotel. Wifi connection isn't the best either. Food is alright if you go to the Pizza place across the street. Cheap beers if you enjoy one. Overall, like I said, mixed feelings... It has it's ups and downs.

I've been to Kathmandu quite a few times and every time I stay here at the Crowne Plaza.

The staff are very friendly and helpful and even though it seems like quite a dated hotel, they keep it well maintained and the location is very convenient.

Not far from the Monkey Temple and about 20 minutes to Tamil.

The rooms are spacious and comfortable however a few rooms are out of reach of the wifi.

The buffet breakfast in the morning is excellent and has a great variety.

The Chinese restaurant located in the hotel is also very good. I always enjoy eating here.

There is also an Italian restaurant within the grounds of the hotel and not far from the swimming pool.

Fantastic place to stay.
