“Clean, Well Located & Friendly Staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2012

Setting out on foot, I checked out over 24 different places (a collection of hotels and hostels) in Thamel, Kathmandu. This place was by far the best choice. Air Con/Heating and full clean kitchen with fridge and gas stove (as you walk around Kathmandu - you will see how impossible this is to find). The staff are very friendly and have made my stay here very comfortable. There is 24 hour hot water (another rarity) and fantastic Wi-Fi. My room is large and accommodates a separate lounge room, which the sunlight hits in the morning. I am a very light sleeper and have not heard any traffic noise from my room...so on this note...again, it is a winner! Additionally, the property has a rooftop terrace, which is very nice and peaceful. The hotel seems to attract a very respectful clientele...no drunken youth keeping you up at all hours! All of this topped off by its great location and minutes walk to the supermarket, mean I highly recommend it!

Room Tip: Have a look at a few rooms, as some face the street and some have kitchens and some don't.

This hotel has a lot going for it: excellent location, fantastic staff, clean, great roof top bar and public areas. I could also see that most of the rooms here are of an excellent standard. Unfortunately the room we stayed in (standard) had lot wrong with it: broken telephone, lights, fan and bathroom door handle I would stay here again but would book a higher quality room

This was my 8th visit to Nepal and Kathmandu over a period of 21 years so I have stayed in many Guesthouses and Hotels over this time. I found the Hotel Tayoma to be warm and friendly, the staff and management very happy to accommodate your needs wherever possible. Of course you must make judgement based on the individual setting i.e. it would be wrong to compare this hotel to those better quality hotels in say a city like Singapore or Kuala Lumpur. Remember, Nepal is a poor country without many of the facilities we may be used to so we need to be a little more understanding and patient. However, in the context of Kathmandu, the room charge is very reasonable (they do have some good deals), the rooms are very comfortable, the Hotel is very clean, the facilities very well kept and the staff welcoming and helpful. What more can you ask for?
