“Tasty Japanese food in Thamel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2013 via mobile

Nothing beats ramen on a rainy day when you've got a cold. I was extremely happy to have found this place. Granted it's Japanese food with a slight Nepali twist, it's pretty darn close! For RS500 two of us got ramen and gyoza. Tea is free and while the wait staff aren't particularly friendly the food made up for it. The donburis and tempura looked really good. Will have to try those tomorrow...

“A Rare Find In Kathamandu”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2013

We stayed 2doors away and eaten twice throughout our 7days visit. This is a very small outlet with less than 10tables,opened from 11am-9pm daily. the Nepalese staff is efficient. Tonkatsu is cooked with Japanese rice, however the pork here is rather chewy, especially the fats and tendon part. We had the very huge portion of sushi, Chasyu Ramen & Yakitori during the 2nd visit, the barbeque chicken is too sweet and overcooked, but the other 2items really kept our stomach filled and satisfiied. If you do not order any beverage, Japanese tea will be served-FOC.

“Lucky find”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 31, 2013

We were stolling in Thamel, looking for gifts to take home, when we spotted this little restaurant.
They make nice tasty and cheap dishes.
Worth a visit if you want to eat something fast and unusual.

“Excellent Taste and Value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2013

I am surprised this restaurant is on tripadvisor, it is very small and be considered a "hole in the wall" establishment. It was located next to my hotel in Thamel and I ate there several times. I had nothing but good food and fast service at the Thamel location. The server was helpful explaining some of the menu items and what ingredients they consisted of. I loved the pork cutlet with eggs and rice.

The restaurant was never overly busy and I was always well attended to. Now being a "hole in the wall" kind of place, it is an "all business" serving atmosphere. The service can be "unceremonious," but never unfriendly, I never felt distracted from the excellent food and never having to wait long for a good meal. I was always pleased. I nearly forgot that the prices are great for such a sumptuous meal. You won't be disappointed. It closes at 9 so eat dinner early.
