You don't want to stay in Thamel. You don't. Eat there, buy there, but don't stay there.
Not a dark smelly room on a corridor for you. No way.
A family guest house in a quiet area right outside Thamel sounds good, right? So, this is it.

Budi gave us the penthouse room for the price of a normal one. Well, the other rooms are as good, I guess. More or less private terraces with sun and shade and lots of plants. Nice views of real life. Comfortable, clean rooms and usable small bathrooms. Good breakfast. Telling them your breakfast time the evening before will save you waiting time, which can be long if you're very unlucky like we were once.

Budi can arrange anything. He'll give you a good deal, don't worry. Bus tickets like we wanted, or guides or anything else we didn't try. Let him save you time and trouble.

We would go here again.

We have stayed here 3 weeks in total and have felt like at home. Very genuine, friendly and service minded family with staff.
We left our varuables when off for hiking without problems.
Nice rooms with comfortable beds and nice sheets.
Nice breakfast served when it suits you on the roof terass.
Nice location, as calm as it can be in Kathmandu.
We will defently come back.
Best homestay we're stayed at.

Received a warm welcome from Buddi and the staff. By Nepal standards this was a comfortable, clean and pretty place to stay. Would not hesitate to return again. Good simple breakfast served on roof top terrace adorned with colourful pot plants. Nice and close to Thamel without being in Thamel.

Stayed here as a couple in January. The owner and his staff were very freindly and helpful. We stayed on the top floor and had our own private balcony. We were served our breakfast and Nepali tea here each morning. The room was clean and warm with a TV and ensuite. I would recommend this guest house as it is safe and quiet but just a short walk to the main tourist attractions and shopping in Thamel. The owner will help you out with travel arrangements and advice.

We stayed for 6 nights in total and really enjoyed our time in the Kathmandu valley and the Blue Mountain not least thanks to Buddhi. He gave us great support and organized e.g. transport and Hotel in Pokhara.
The rooms are clean and fitted with comfortable beds (which is really important to me)! Also the bathrooms are very clean and hot water is available 24/7. All in all highly recommended!

We stayed for two nights in the rooftop deluxe room. Maybe we expected too much but we were a little underwhelmed.
The room is relatively small, mostly because there is a lot of (ramshackle) furniture in there. The bathroom is also small and the shower gets hot water from solar panels meaning cold water in the morning. We are all for renewable energy but it is strange that the cheaper rooms with shared bathrooms do have a hot water boiler.
What bothered us the most about the room was the carpet. Carpet is difficult to keep clean and it showed with several unidentified stains and some hairs from previous guests.
Overall, the room could be cleaner. Besides the carpet, there was a thick visible layer of dust on the curtain rail, and the soap holder in the bathroom was plain dirty. Truth be said: the bed linen was sparkling clean.
Although the rooftop itself was great, we just expected a little more for our money.

The location is a little outside thamel and requires a 5 minute walk, the last two streets are kind of dark if you return after dinner.

We appreciate the little project that Mr. Buddhi set up to help underprivileged boys to get an education. Further, he, and the guy in charge when he wasn't there, were very helpful in planning our two days in KTM.

Oh my, I do not even know how to start. Mr. Buddhi, the boys working in the place and the place itself were a blessing.

The place itself is clean, looks great, the rooms and beds are super comfy, guests have their own kitchen and the roof top, oh, the roof top is awesome. You can watch sunrise and sunset from there over the city of Kathmandu. I often had a nice breakfast, which the Homestay provides whenever you want to have it, and watched sunrise and listened to the birds in the morning from this place.
Tea and coffee are complimentary and also on the last evening Mr. Buddhi provides a typical Nepali dish for dinner. It tastes great! Also there are just 9 rooms, which means, that you get to know people staying there and believe me, I never met a single awkward or unfriendly person in this place within 3 weeks. Plus the Homestay is situated in a lovely area, not in the middle of busy and too crowded Thamel (which is like 5 minutes walk away). The area does have some Nepali restaurants, street food, little shops and everything you need.

Whenever there were any concerns, problems or just questions about my trip, I could talk to either Mr. Buddhi or the boys and the always helped me out.

If you are going to Kathmandu, make sure you will stay in this 100% lovely place. It is the best in the whole city, especially with the people, who run it. I can honestly say, that I miss them a lot and I have a feeling, that I became a part of their family. So I will go back for sure. You should also make this experience.
