“A little overrated”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2013

Compared to so many other similar religious sites I found this a little disappointing. I thought it was worth a visit, but didn't dwell here too long. In contrast to Bodnath Stupa, where I felt refreshed when reluctantly leaving it, I couldn't get out of here fast enough. i felt I was "ticking a box" instead of exploring another culture's spirituality.

“Watch out for the students wanting money as guides!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2013

Even busier than Bodnath Stupa, the lookalike Yogis nearly fooled me, they ask for money having had their picture taken, the public toilets are a no go zone, they are a hole in the ground with no water to flush. the open-water raft burning burials are a site as well as the monkeys that roam free all over the site

“Excellent place to visit day and night”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2013

This had history, location and atmosphere (spiritual and architectural) and was easy to get to with stunning views. It was a little hard climbing to the top, but well worth the effort, and the climb gave you time to look at different parts of the city on the way up.

“If you survive the hundreds of stairs....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 31, 2012

If you go to Katmandu and don't visit this tempe , something is wrong with you!

There's a fee for the entrance, but it's well worth it, if you survive the crazy amount of stairs to the top, you'll be happy you've made it!

Amazing views, amazing statues, little temples, and crazy monkeys! Not to be missed!
