A beautiful, peaceful and enlightening place. I spun every prayer wheel I could find here and prayed for all of my loved ones.

“Nice Stupa”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2013

Lots of tourist shops around the Stupa, a lot of them sell oil paintings that are highly detailed which we loved. They range from low to high quality so it's worth it to spend a bit more for the clearer and more precise ones. The Stupa iteself is surrounded by locals, monks in robes and tourists which was fun to watch.

Very impressive.
Very relaxed and peaceful...........unlike the Indian temple Pashupatinath Temple where there is pushing and rushing. At Bodnath you can also take photos, which you cannot do at Pashupatinath.

“Nice stupa”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2013

I'm glad we made it to the stupa. It was a great break from Thamel and worth the taxi ride. If you're sightseeing you might as well add this to the itinerary. Cleaner than the monkey temple and nicer vibe but I do love monkeys so I'm glad I saw both.

“Feel the Energy”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2013

My wife and I prefer to stay in Boudha when visiting Nepal. Much quieter, calmer and cleaner
than Thamel district in Kathmandu. The many monasteries and nunneries enhance the spirit
of the Great Stupa and spending time (more than one day), allows you to slow down and open
to the experience. Pilgrims walking Koras and prostrating, monks chanting, and pujas combine to
calm the mind and open your heart. Food and shopping is better in Thamel, just a 15-minute bus
or taxi ride away. Walking around the Stupa's many roads and alleys is a wonderful way to spend a day or two.
