We stayed at the HIYA for ten days in June, and found it to be a wonderful, peaceful and relaxing oasis. The accommodations are excellent - we stayed in one of the four large tents which are tucked away down a garden path, very close to the main yoga hall. The gardens are beautifully manicured, and are frequented by all sorts of birds and wildlife. When we were there, there were even two fluffy baby rabbits roaming the lawns.
The staff are excellent. Dr. Simkhada is an excellent yoga instructor, and extremely knowledgeable in all aspects of yoga, Ayurveda and health. The massages and steam-baths were heavenly, as was the shirodhara oil treatment, professionally provided on-site. The center has a real family feel to it, and makes you feel at home from day one. We were sad to leave.
Highly recommended for anyone seeking a tranquil setting full of greenery, away from Thamel, and wanting to improve or simply practice yoga.
