Owner description: The Garden of Dreams, a neo classical historical garden, is situated in the midst of Kathmandu city, Nepal. The Garden's design has much in common with formal European gardens: paved perimeter paths, punctuated by pavilions, trellises, and various planting areas, surrounded by a sunken flower garden with a large pond at its center. It is an architectural landscape that encourages the visitor to stroll around and discover the Garden's treasures from many different vantage points.

“Gorgeous place to laze around and escape”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2013

Well worth the entrance to fee to have some peace and quiet (although, honestly, KTM is not at all as hectic as all that, compared to any Indian city!!), and just be. Pretty flowers, nice grassy areas and benches to sit on, (good toilets too), a real little haven. The café is mega expensive though, so unless you want to blow a week's budget on lunch then I'd come here before or after eating in Thamel.
There's also a little 'museum' that shows fascinating 'before and after' photos of how the garden used to be after it had fallen into horrific neglect, makes it even more special that it's so gorgeous now!
Came here twice we liked it so much.

“Peace in the middle of Thamel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 18, 2013

This is a little gem being a beautiful garden setting only 5 minutes walk from Thamel. Great for reading a book, talking quietly to friends or simply cooling down after a busy day.

“Peace and quiet in the middle of Kathmandu”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 17, 2013

Don't be put off by the high walled entrance, because inside is a real treat. The Garden of Dreams is a beautiful haven and clearly favoured by young courting Kathmandu couples. Discretion and beauty are popular in every city!

“Serenity”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 17, 2013

The title best describes it. Clean...a large fountain surrounded by beautiful flowering plants, trees, etc. A place to simply relax, read a book or chat with a friend, and soak under the warm sun especially during my trip last Dec 2012. The surrounding architecture blends superbly and also a good restaurant - Kaiser Cafe - is available within the property. Entrance fee for foreigners is 200 rupees. Don't leave Kathmandu without spending the morning in this place. Beautiful!

“It IS really a garden of dream!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2013

In the heart of the crowdy, busy, noisy, polluted KTM you'll find the pieceful garden, in where you really can relax. There's huge amount of trees and flowers. Very beautiful garden!
